Leaving and entering port stations suggestion

Ahoy shipmates,

I dont know if many people actually like to depart from the dock and likewise manually return, rather than use the quick oprtions, but for those that do, I think it adds to the overall realism, would it be possible to produce a mod, that showed the crew at stations, on the hull at these times?

I think it would a great visual addition to see the decks lined with the crew during these events. Even better would be if they looked a little more war weary when returning and fresh faced at departure.

Come to think of it, Silent Hunter 3 deserves the same thing, especially with the band and crowd that gathers.

Anyway I guess I am throwing down a challenge.

What a great idea , weither or not it can be done though is another thing

i like to depart and dock without the quick option personaly , so this is something i would love to have.

(i have no modding experience so i cannot help you achiving this goal just adding my comment)

(edit) yay i'm not a Nub anymore , Swabbie now!

The same question was asked for SH3 long ago. Considering Ducimus' recent work with dockside bands it could be possible, but I think adding things to the player's sub itself is quite a bit more difficult.

I don't think so, but never say never. After all, it wasn't so long ago that the best modders were saying that a PT boat mod was not possible...

I think what you're referring to is 'Set the Special Sea Detail'. All the ship's company, not on actual maneuvering watch, line the decks in their 'undress blues' when departing/arriving. It would be neat if the Arriving Sea Detail looked a little more 'salty'.

I really miss the short movie that showed the sub docking (returning) with a brass band playing 'Stars & Stripes Forever' in the background.

Perhaps someone could come up with a short movie that would play during Departure/Arrival, rather than an actual mod that would have to use moving models. In other words: KISS it!

You have it skipper, I was just uncertain of the correct term to use, being that I served in the Army........lol I have wondered if it could be something that was triggered by a button, rather like the Battle Stations one.

A movie, or a way to show guys lined up on the top deck would be awesome. I love leaving, and taking the time to actually stand at the bridge pull the sub INTO the dock, like so close the guys can step off (without crashing into anything) (ive only caused minor damage to docks/peers/subs thus far)

maybe its the boater in me, but docking the boat, well, after 2 days at sea fishing is a very gratifying part of the journey, its a challenging part of a formal ending. Much like landing an airplane. although its very minor, its a "non event" in SH4, it would be cool to 'take it up a notch'

If only you could put crew on deck in calm water, make it regain fatuige quickly and efficiency as well....fresh air does that...
