Default Epyx Sub Battle

Did anyone place this? I think it came out after Silent Service. Its cool feature was that you could lay mines. You could also play as German or US.

I remember that one and the other Epyx naval game, the arcadey but fun "Destroyer" on the good old Commodore 64.

Sub battle had lots of potential and a lot more depth than Silent Service but was ultimately sunk by poor graphics, speed of response and a terribly flawed time compression system.

You can find a ZZap review of it here

Look at the price £24.99 in 1988, I only paid £17.99 for SH4 online... and we moan about the price of todays games?

I wish it had some pictures of the game.

I have that game in a zip file.
It plays within Windows XP without any problems.

I played it on an Atari 520ST.

What I remember:
You could play as a Gato class sub, or as a Type VII u-boat. That was it.
There was a 'drop of the agent' mission.
The graphics seemed to be mostly black and blue.
There was a wierd side-scrolling picture that showed your depth relative to the surface and the bottom.

I liked it for the German side, but I mostly stuck with Silent Service.

I think you could lay mines in this game. The few times I played it, i loved to race infront of the convoy and lay a minefield.

wow, that sounds like a fun game.:hmm: I'll bump this thread every so often, then we'll see how many times you re-post the same thing.

That's okay, I did that in another thread, and my second post was almost verbatim .
