Default unrecognised kills

im on the surface when 2 planes approach me from astern so i do a crash dive well before they come into range. just as my scope submerges there is a boom an off in the distance are 2 grey sunken ship emblems. strange i thought but ok.

10 minutes later i come across 2 large old passenger liners and 3 escorting destroyers so i sink 1 of each.. problem is i got no target destroyed message and neither show up in the log as sunk.
i watched them both burn and sink stern first so now i am confused and a little disgruntled.

anybody else experienced this sort of thing happening ?

cheers

I sunk a 10kt tanker in the China Sea, and got no credit. I think it was bcause it sunk stern first, then hit the sea floor, leaving the bow out of water. The final damage came from hitting the floor, thus no credit...

Was very frustrated.

Default similar problem..

I just "sank" a large freighter in port and it went down nose first, which hit the bottom at about 30meters (the port in Saipan is pretty shallow), about 60% of the ship was under water but no kill It just sat there burning, with two great holes in its sides well below the water line. Oh well.

I recently entered a harbor off of Japan and put 2 torps into a small freighter. It burned but would not sink until I surfaced and put a few rounds of arty into it. Then it said "target destroyed" and I got credit.

I've never seen the above where the ship goes down bow (or stern) into shallow water but doesn't register a kill.

I recently put SIX torps (all hits) into a Large Composite Freighter docked at a port... same kinda tihng. It was burning all across the top, but wouldn't go down & no credit for me. I think I'll avoid trying to sink ships in port from now on, since they're more trouble than they're worth.

my ships were in the open ocean which is why i was puzzled.
i think i encountered a form of glitch because some ship descriptions changed as well eg. Small Old Engine Aft :hmm:

i exited the game a few times and tried various saves and it sorted itself out but i still lost those 2 kills.
to make up for it i snuck into hiroshima, took my photos and got a 28000 ton fleet carrier with my last couple of torps. felt a lot better

back to pearl now

cheers
