Default Can Somebody build this? [Request]

An idea ive had which has been pestering me for sometime, i came across the idea when researching how subs attack, normally they use stealth an use torpedos, but i thought it would be nice to be stealth an suddenly surface infront of another BB an kick its butt with my 18" guns, but since i dont know how to make models of a sub or coding etc i would like somebody who is willing to help me out an make it so people who want can use it, i'll post a picture, *its really rough and out of scale but it should give u an idea of what i mean*

Specifications of the sub

Large Sub hull mounting 6x 18" guns (yamato guns) 2x turrets - *hull may have to be the size of a small battleship*
8 Fore torpedos
4 aft torpedos
1 Large AA (aft) ------- Position as you see fit
2 Light AA (conning tower) --------- Position as you see fit
Wieght 54,000 tonnes as much as a battleship, this beast isnt light its heavy and can submerge packing the same firepower as a battleship

speed surfaced 32knts
speed submerged 20knts

PS. All credit go to the person who makes it

hehe why would one make it? most people here are about realism.

In real that sub could never exist. First of all to carry such huge guns it must be very large in order to have enough displacement that is capable to stay afloat with that weight.

With that size and weight it would be propably very slow on surface and maybe not maneuvarable at all submerged because you would need huge electric machines and even larger batteries.

And then it had no chance to come close enough to another battleship because of its size it would never pass the destroyer escort. Such a huge sub would be easily detected with sonar at long range and it can be much easier hit because of its size and the lack of ability to maneuver quickly.

And after all, Subs are not designed to sink capital warships. Historicaly they were not that important during wwII and only few had a chance to attack battleships. They were much more used to sink merchants, gather intellegence and mine harbors.

Cant do it. There is no way to create either a turret - or multiple "deck" guns as needed. The only thing that can be done is create a 16" deck gun.

That will need to an interesting Rate Of Fire argument.

Biggest ever deck guns were the 12" guns on the British M Class. Had to be loaded on the surface but could only fire from PD. Firing on the surface would capsize the boat. ROF was about 1 round per hour.

use mini tweaker to give your existing deck gun the same damage level as the 16" gun, then you basically have a single shot 16" gun on your sub.

this will let you go after battleships on the surface.

i think this is your best chance of getting close to what you want.

or get the "killer sub" mod and your deck gun will be able to fire like a machine gun.

Maybe something like the Surcouf could me modeled instead?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_submarine_Surcouf

It would make an interesting addition.

To continue with that theme, the guns themselves would be a major problem. When you surface it would take so long to unplug the muzzles that you would probably be sunk before you ever fired a shot. If you don't have muzzle plugs then when you open the breach to load them a LOT of water is going to run down into the turret.

Also you would have to be very close to use the guns, unless you have a gun director, and even then it would have to be in a much larger tower to be useful at long ranges. And the director would have to be made watertight.

On the old Warships1 (now Navweaps) discussion boards http://p216.ezboard.com/bwarships1discussionboards there is a board just for ship design and creating a navy http://p216.ezboard.com/Designing-A-...ionboardsfrm14
They used to have a program available that would let you input parameters, and the program would tell you if it would work or not - things like displacement, lenght, beam would all be taken into account. You might like it.

still, unrealistic as it may be, i think the idea has some merit on the fun side of things. let's not beat the kid down too badly for havin a wild idea. besides, the idea may not be as wild as it seems. in a way it's pretty close to the way the Ohio class is soldiering on.

Solution already exists.....maybe

Hey, the solution already exists, only better than the original plan. The mod Killer Sub lets you keep the original size sub with super speed above and below the water, almost invulnerable armor, megapowerful guns that fire as fast as you can pull the trigger, that you don't even have to aim very well, atomic torpedoes (and lots of em, not just 8), unlimited fuel and batteries (atomic sub probably. It's top secret). So load it up! It's darn close to what you want except that it doesn't look like your battlesub. If you think about it, that's a stealth feature. "Hehehehehe, little sub surfacing, range 500 meters. Bring all four 18" turrets to bear and fire when ready. Stupid American." And those would be famous last words had anyone lived to remember them.

Only one problem: don't know if the Killer Sub mod works OK with patch 1.3, so if you've installed it, wait for the compatibility go-ahead.

Let me get this straight. Deploy at 32 knots on the surface. Sneak up to the BB at 20 knots submerged. Surface. You now square off against nine or twelve 18" guns with your two turrets. Oh, one hit on your pressure hull and you're toast. If you win you've sunk a worthless target. If you lose, you're sunk anyway most likely. At best you slink back wounded on the surface and get plastered by Nip planes, ironically sharing Yamato's fate. The resources for this 1 super-sub would build an entire fleet of Gatos. Oh, and since the fleet of Gatos didn't get built the US loses the war.

Nice plan there, Bub! I like it!
