Default [REL] TBT Bitmap fix for widescreen users patch 1.2 only

If you aren't aware a number of people including myself have been reporting an issue where the TBT bitmap overlay is cropped on the left and right of the screen. The following fixes the issue for me at least:

TBT Widescreen problem - FIX!! (Need confirmation from others)

Navigate to:
C:\...your path to game here...\Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific\Data\Menu\

Make a backup copy of

menu_1024_768.ini (call it menu_1024_768.bak or something)

Load the file:

menu_1024_768.ini

with notepad or suitable text editor.

Do a simple find text - "tbt_1024.tga" without the quotes

scroll UP 4 lines to find: (it's in the same section)

Zone= 0 768 1024 768 1 1 0x28000000 0.5 -0.5 0x28000001 -0.5 0.5 0 0

Change to:

Zone= 0 768 1024 768 5 1 0x28000000 0.5 -0.5 0x28000001 -0.5 0.5 0 0

The only difference is changing the "1" to a "5"

Save the file and run the game as normal.

I play at 1280x1024 (lcd) and it's cropped at the top and bottom.
Any fix for that?

There is also another way using the above fix, I change the 1024 768 entries in this line and also the line above to my screen res... i.e

from this

[G28 I120]
Name=Background
Type=1030;Static bmp
ItemID=0x28000001
ParentID=0x28000000
Pos=0,0,1024,768
Zone= 0 768 1024 768 1 1 0x28000000 0.5 -0.5 0x28000001 -0.5 0.5 0 0
Color=0xFFFFFFFF
Materials=1
Display=2;Linear
Mat 0=data/menu/gui/layout/tbt_1024.tga

to this

[G28 I120]
Name=Background
Type=1030;Static bmp
ItemID=0x28000001
ParentID=0x28000000
Pos=0,0,1680,1050
Zone= 0 768 1680 1050 1 1 0x28000000 0.5 -0.5 0x28000001 -0.5 0.5 0 0
Color=0xFFFFFFFF
Materials=1
Display=2;Linear
Mat 0=data/menu/gui/layout/tbt_1024.tga

I now get full screen TBT, when I get in from work today I'll post a screen shot of how it looks.

I tried both fix versions on my 22" wide screen & 1680x1050, and both work, but the results are slightly different.

Dragon's fix "closes" the previously "open" side sections left & right of the TBT, where you could see past the TBT at same magnification as through the TBT. The TBT visual field does not reach completely from screen edge to screen edge.

Puff's fix version makes the visual field of the TBT reach from the very screen edge to edge, thus making the visual field slightly bigger than in Dragon's fix. The magnification looks thereby slightly bigger - everything looks a bit bigger or closer. The magnification is bigger than through the periscope at max magnification.

I wonder which fix version to use: with Dragon's the magnification is appr. the same as max. persiscope magnification, whereas with Puff's its bigger than the periscope, which is handy, of course, but which one is more realistic? Should the magnification be the same in TBT and periscope?

O.K. Found the working fix that will get you real aspect ratio and fix this problem:
If you have 1280x1024 resolution:
Change:
[G28 I120]
Name=Background
Type=1030;Static bmp
ItemID=0x28000001
ParentID=0x28000000
Pos=0,0,1024,768
Zone= 0 768 1024 768 1 1 0x28000000 0.5 -0.5 0x28000001 -0.5 0.5 0 0
Color=0xFFFFFFFF
Materials=1
Display=2;Linear
Mat 0=data/menu/gui/layout/tbt_1024.tga
Crop 0=0,0.125,1,0.75
MatFlags=0x9
TexFmt=0x0

To:
[G28 I120]
Name=Background
Type=1030;Static bmp
ItemID=0x28000001
ParentID=0x28000000
Pos=0,0,1152,864
Zone= 0 768 1152 864 1 1 0x28000000 0.5 -0.5 0x28000001 -0.5 0.5 0 0
Color=0xFFFFFFFF
Materials=1
Display=2;Linear
Mat 0=data/menu/gui/layout/tbt_1024.tga
Crop 0=0,0.125,1,0.75
MatFlags=0x9
TexFmt=0x0

1024:768=1.333
1152:864=1.333
1280:1024=1.25 > if you use this one it will stretch your screen.
1680:1050=1.6 > if you use this one it will stretch your screen.

Hi everyone.

I've tried these different settings and it does get closer to fitting...
...the game window stays to the left and stretched off the screen in the verticle.

Can't see the buttons on the bottom.

Odd that it shows an unknown resolution in the graphics settings
and if I try to change any of those setting I get an error report to send
and it shuts the game down.

My system well surpasses the recomended but I'm not getting very far.
I'm running Windows XP Media Center on an Asus Striker Extreme MB
with an Intel 6750 Core 2 Duo and 2 Gigs of ram.
The video card is also an Asus product EN8800GTS 640.

All the latest updates for the game as well as all my hardware too.

Using a 42" DLP TV that has a max resolution of 1280 x 720.

Having a similar issue with LOMAC as far as graphics issues...
...already have questions posted on that elsewhere though.

Just thinking I must be missing something.

Any help would be most wonderous and kindly thought of.

Still reading more posts here.

This is the problem I'm having with my TBT view. I'm running at 1920x1200, and I'm at a loss at trying to find a way to get rid of that line running across the top of the viewport:

Does anyone know of a fix for this?
