Crush Depth Struggles!!

So far I am finding SH4 very enjoyable but am having problems when evading escorts and going deep. I have installed the Crush Depth Mod and I am still having major problems with the sub below 100m, even with no damage. It makes evading escorts and stuff pretty much a drag. Once I am past that depth the sub is pretty much toast. Current sub is Gato Class.

Any help would be appreciated.

I do not understand. I go to 250 feet w/o issue or mod installed. How can this be with your submarine and a mod as well:hmm:

Anyone?

I think I will go crawl into a hole, in the in-game settings I choose Metric ( my Canadian Roots ) and not Imperial. So I am guessing via the metres thing I am over 300 feet. That is why I am toast Will check this later.

I think that's it AVG, thanks for the reply, I am off to the subsim hole in the ground now to hide

If you have some damage diving to 50 feet can be a fatal mistake.

I was going to ask you because you said 100m but I thought you were just translating the feet into meters as this is what you are used to doing. As for metric and me, I'm lousy at the metric system. 100 meters to mee is 100 feet. Oh well, one day the entire world might be on the same page for Imperial/metric system.

For the game I think I am going to go with Imperial as per SH3 I have had some good patrols, then bam, toast. Some issues with SH4 are not as much " bugs " but getting used to some of the new stuff. Have a good one

Feet and Metres is the easiest conversation to make, effectively 3:1.

Yeah I was reading as 100 feet, when it was not, it was metres. Dumb mistake

I tell ya....those Germans made a HELLUVA pressure hull. 200 meter (600 ft) dives to evade escorts would simply CRUSH any US sub we have in SH4.

But I must admit liking 6 fwd torp tubes and 4 aft

In his book "Clear the Bridge", Dick O'Kane tells how he routinely took the USS Tang to 600 feet.

1 meter = 3.3 feet

That's the best balance between brevity and accuracy in quick conversion.
