With all of the problems that this title obviously has it's becomeing clear to me that the devs havent played it yet to see if it even works! (Build it yes" play it no)

I'm sure they've played it, they just weren't given enough time to finish it.

I have to agree with Party boy on this i reckon if theyhad spent another few months playing it to death they would have found the bugs, seems like it was rushed out basically the suits won out again from what ive heard

Here is what I think. The Devs need to worry about graphical glitches and gameplay problems like crashes to desktop and so on. The wondeful team of modders we have can fix all the historical and minor graphical bugs like skins and such. Not only can they fix historical problems, but also tweek the game to each player's wants (like realistic deck gun reloads vs gattling deckgun mode).

Your poll is incomplete

You left out "Posters posting re-posting re-re-posting re-re-re-posting the same complaints that we just read about in a simuliar thread 3 seconds ago."

That's what bugs me about SH4 the most.

Patches will be incoming and so will the mods. The game's only been out for four weeks. It will be ok soon

Well said, there are some threads for bugs, what you don't like, etc. People though seem to ignore them and post like hell everywhere. They are asking Ubi to gets its act together when they can't themselves.

UBI made the claim that they have their act together by publishing the game and they also got paid for it. The posters that bought the game made no such claim. It would appear that we will have to wait for Silent Hunter 14 before they get it right. At $50 a pop. Or we can hope that another software company will come along willing to dedicate the correct amount of time, financing and resourses to do it right. I think it is a shame that we aren't right now playing the best submarine simultor possible given the technology that is available.

I think the issue is two-fold...

for those (like me) with a mid-low range comp - the graphics (not enough options to gain more fps without losing eye candy)

for those with super high range comp - the graphics (not enough high end graphical capabilities)

For evryone in general - the annoying gameplay issues that require mods to be able to play without CTD's etc

I think macky makes an interesting point - the sim doesn't utilise high-end specs and yet without them things are a bit dodgy. In some respects that's inevitable, but I'd have thought 'options' should aleviate that somewhat.

40% of respondants have selected "all of the above....". That's pretty bad.

I gave Ubi both barrels - or should that be all 6 tubes? - in a post I called 'rant'. I've since been playing with a bunch of mods downloaded (just on that, we are sooo lucky to have so many patient and talented people working on mods for us!!). Even with them, I am finding it very disappointing. There are simply too many things wrong with it for me to find it enjoyable, so I've shelved it until the next patch or two and some 'ubermods' get done. Pretty poor for $100 if you ask me.....

FYI, here's my rig's specs:
Athlon 64 FX-62 Dual Core
Kingston 2Gb DDR2 667MHz PC5300 RAM
SB X-Fi Platinum
PCIe ATI RADEON X 1950 XTX, 512 Mb DDR4

Even with all that (i.e. everything maxed out) I don't find the sim very 'alive'.

I guess I'll have to 'wait and see' like everyone else, but I don't find it easy to accept shoddy product, no matter the justifications offered in this great site.

Cheers all
