Default [REQ] Oilers to refuel ships mod

I'm sure that US used a couple of oilers to refuel the task forces operating on Pacific like the Japonese did.

Therefore where are the oilers operating so that I can refuel my sub?

It seem absurd doing way back, over 4800mn at 7knots just to refuel (not mentioning rearm)!

Cheers

US Submarines did not do RAS (Refuelling at Sea) in WW2.
The US surface navy had developed underway replenishment into an art form, but the submarine force was not part of that.
Keep in mind, a destroyer needs to be refueled every 2-3 days if it wants to keep up with battleships or carriers who can do 20-30 knots for days. Destroyers are sprinters.
Submarines had advance bases like Midway or Marianas later, but no refuelling at sea.
The germans did that, with surface tankers or type XIV supply U-Boats, but not the americans.
Of course US boats did refuel from Tankers at advance bases, but those were always moored in some Lagoon or Atoll, not at high sea while underway.

Nice link, BTW.

Yeah, the USN didn't deal with subs that way. The sub tenders and oilers would anchor someplace with a raft of subs next to them, they didn't refuel at sea. Later in the war the US subs should not operate from PH, however, but they could operate from Midway, and places west of there (can't remember, was it Saipan or Guam?)
