Default GWX ATI Radeon Graphics/Behaviour Problem.

Hi, decided to load GWX onto my second Computer and have encountered [side-splitting] problems:
1. Control Room opened up with the crew standing with their arms outstretched so up to the ..
2. Bridge and the same plus Binoculars moving around on their own
3. No Crew sounds when given an instruction to them i.e. Navigator = Depth under Keel = no voice but depth given on interface.
4. Mouse stuttering around the screen.

Wot I have ..
Intel Pentium 4 (3.40GHz)
1024MB Memory
200gb Hard Disk
ATI Radeon X600 256MB.

Hope someone can help me with this.

Make sure your graphics drivers are up-to-date...go to ATI and download the current set if not. Often times, the drivers included on the install CD are out-of-date from the get go.

Hi and thanks for the advice but I was dreading that one ! A lot involved to do this as it is upstairs and has no idea what the Internet is :rotfl:
So .. is it possible to burn the recent drivers stuff to a CD then feed the CD to my upstairs one [would save a lot of hassle this way].

Burn the downloaded current drivers to a CD? Don't see why not. Make sure the CD is big enough...ATI Catalyst drivers are big files.

I have an ATI 9800 pro which runs GWX very well. I use these drivers:

http://www.omegadrivers.net/

(the quick menue with the driver archive is in the top left of the screen, sometimes hard to spot)

Some more advice here on a similar vein:

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=102305

If you don't do so already, remember the regularly defrag your drive and other suchlike disk/registry/program maintenance. Also look to your AGP and northbridge cooling as sometimes such issues can be heat/cooling related.

Just my 2 cents, I am running GWX with a radeon 9600 PRO 128 with the drivers that came with the card and i have no problems at all. In fact i had turned off anti-aliasing and i devloped screen tears so i turned it back on and no problems now, go figure?

GWX looks great and is quite a bit lighter than GW1.1, the sky colors are amazing sometimes. The lighted freighters twinkle when on the horizon pretty much like in real life, the closer you get they become steady, too cool.

Hi eolian, nice to read that you find the sky, colours etc. are lighter in GWX; most feedback on this subject up to now has been gripes about sky and night time being too dark ?!

The only thing I can think of, is that the anti-aliasing is reading the tears as texture edges and filling them in. just a wild guess on my part though. :hmm:, probably not right at all.
