Running patched vanilla...
Twice last night I had 3 contact reports at once.. All were interceptable.. One scenario: Two heading in my general direction (North) and slow.. One heading away & medium speed.. I chose to mark all the contacts & attack the nearest slow one (Coastal). Sunk it w/ the deck gun. Ran at flank & intercepted the second slow one (C2) and was able to sink that with an eel and about 15 rounds of HE.. Ran like heck after the third contact (medium) but couldn't overtake the 4 hour head start. Generally, are the medium speeders bigger ships or worth more renown?? Thanks!! |

My observations based on purely anecdotal evidence is that it's pretty random, though it seems more likely to find a larger cargo ship going slow. I've never seen a C3 going at medium for instance, but I am fairly certain I've seen C2's doing it.

I've often noticed the single larger ships at medium speed and the coastals at slow, though occaisionally that can change.

I figured that since 2 were slow & heading in the same general direction, I'd scope them out first. If they were all going in different directions, I probably would have gone after the medium speed contact first.. I don't remember the grid, but it's just SW of Gibraltar, right off the coast. 12 cargos sunk in the same grid this patrol. They keep coming so I keep sinking them
![]() I'm running patched vanilla, but it would be sure nice to have a milk cow come out so I don't have to leave this area.. |

I got a contact the other night that was moving at medium speed, so I intercept it. It turns out to be Diving Duck's Fishing boat (sail) moving at 8 knots!! It's top speed is 9 Knots!! There wasn't much wind about, so I reckon that the captain had the crew working the oar's!! They were soon working the life boats as my deck gun took him down with three rounds.
As payback I had half of costal command's Wellington bombers apear, My Flack gunners had a lot of un knocking two of them down, but we dived when some B-24 appeared on the horizon! ![]() |

So in the end it's just pure luck what is behind the contact. I've found more than enough pairs of sloooow moving ships (0-1 knots :p ) which turned out to be libertys or big cargoes. |
