Boogie With Stu has an interesting backstory; the Stu referred to in the title was Ian Stewart, an original member of the Rolling Stones, who played piano on a great many of the recordings of The Stones throughout their career, and who also plays piano on Boogie With Stu; the track was recorded when Stu dropped by a Zep session and they were just jamming in the studio; Stu was edged out of the Stones early on in their career by the Stones management who thought Stu looked too much like a truck driver and not enough like a rock star; the Stones had to tell Stu the management wanted him out, but they left the decision up to him and told him if he didn't want out, the rest of the group would tell the management and the record label there would be no deals without him; Stu didn't want to be the cause of potentially ruining the band's chance at success, so he opted out; the rest of the Stones then made a demand Stu remain as as their road manger and that he get a full share in the band; Stu was made the road manager and remained so until his death in 1985; Stu was widely respected in the rock music world and also performed on recordings for numerous other bands; when Stu passed away, a memorial concert was held in his honor with many UK musicians performing... https://www.rollingstone.com/music/m...8-1985-248898/ The song also became one of the earliest instances of the many occasions when LZ have been sued for plagiarism; the song LZ chose to jam to was actually an old Richie Valens composition titled Ooh! My Head... Richie Valens died, at age 17, in the same plane crash that climed the lives of Buddy Holly and The Big Bopper; when the LZ version of the song came out, it was fully credited as an original composition by LZ with no mention of Valens being the original composer, so all royalties and publishing went to LZ; someone alerted the mother of Richie Valens about the stealing of her son's song and she sought legal assistance and succeeded in get the credits changed and royalties reassessed... <O>

The club was a place of many facets and stories; one of those is this lady, Kathryn Grimm, who was dancer at the club as she put herself through college and musical training; she is a very gifted guitarist and and has had a varied career over the years; she now resides in the Portland area, performing and recording, having left the madness of the LA music scene, but she has performed with and recorded with some big names in music as well as produced sessions for others; this music video was also filmed in the Aladdin Club and she put the whole thing together herself; she was, and probably still is, a force of nature... <O>

There's a lot of great music ( female singers ) coming out of Asia now - Japan, ,South Korea, Hong Kong...all virtually unknown in the West. I'm getting strong Ye Ye Girl vibes from the above clip.... maybe it's just me Auto translate works just fine. English band Adorable. A rather nice video by Wubin.

The end of the song sounds really good. That, and I'm pretty sure the record was round. Next , one of those "high concept" hits: Time to get serious and snooty for a couple of minutes. This is why I enjoy dumpster diving at YouTube. Demos for what would become Shiny Beast/Bat Chain Puller. Make sure to read the description notes at YouTube (Vienna!!). You'll find a great story. While this was the "final" line up of The Magic Band, I liked this one the best. Last edited by Jimbuna; 03-26-24 at 01:31 PM. Reason: SPAM filter alert |
