Been out of town a few days so late reply but yeah it's an all numbers matching rifle.

I find the gun to be very accurate, it's my eyes that don't agree so much with the sights.

Had one mis-fire, but I attribute that to the 40 year old Russian mil-surp I was firing.

Saturday, i finally completed the purchase of my S&W Model 41 .22 LR

In The Netherlands its quite hard to get one. And it will be harder most likely after saturdays shootout in a shopping mall resulting in 7 ppl shot dead and several serious wounded. Nothing to do with the legal fire arm circulation, but will take blame most likely….

The wooden but end has been damaged quite hard. So will try to find a new one the next time i’m in the states. I only have one clib, wich is enough but since I ones got spoiled…. I want at least one extra pice.

Tonight I will take it to the fire arms range and waste some, cant wait....

Just aquired a Canadian built Cooey-Winchester, model 840 in .410
Sweet little shottie, just need to find all the other barrels now. She'll take .410, 28g, 20g, 16g and 12g all on the one action. Takes down in about 2 seconds, and re-assembles in about 5.

I must admit i did The last owner kept it in a suitcase with 2 guns but did not really fit in it. So he had 2 handgribs on top of each other, resulting in this damage.

I am a rifle shooter (single shot, bolt action, Anschütz Match 54) and just wanted a handgun for "fun". Meaning no intend to shoot matched and competitions. Just to use it when all rifle ranges are taken and i would have to wait upon my turn. So i was looking for a cheap handgun, but with mechanical perfection.
This was some I was looking for. Very low cost and good performance and cheap ammo!

I am considering to buy a Parker-Hale Model 1200TX (7.62/.308). But you will then spend 100 euros if you start to enjoy... For this, but most for better performance you will have to make your own ammo, what is very time consuming.

Winchester Model 70 in 30.06 Pre 1964 Winchester changed the way they made receivers in 64.

Winchester Model 77 in .22 LR Won a turkey shoot trophy and turkey with this one many years ago.

Here are my two favorite pistols


The top one is a Centennial Arms replica of a Colt 1860 New Model Army in .44 cal. It was issued in 1960. a Centennial thing, and I purchased it then. The last time I fired it 5 of the six cylinders went off at the same time. It's called "flash over" I believe. The only thing that saved me from serious injury was the cylinder on the bottom didn't go off, that one shoots directly into the frame.

The lower is a Colt Officers Model in .22 LR. A very accurate shooting gun.
The patent dates on it are Aug 5, 1884 July 4, 1905 and the last Oct. 5, 1926 The serial number of my gun is 23544 so I think it's pretty old. Just like me

There is a name engraved on the trigger guard Rudy Etchen. He was a staff writer for the NRA American Rifleman and a some what famous shooter in the 50's and 60's. Best known for his shotgun skills.

Edit As I was digging through my gun stuff today I came across my reloading stuff Interesting as it is all very old.
Found a box of 20 Remington 180 grain 30.06 rounds for $5.90 USD and Winchester Super X for the same.
100 Sierra 150 grain Flat Nose 30-30 bullets. $5.00. Wish I still had that Model 94 30-30 bought it new when I was 14 years old, you could do that then.

I believe the usual term is "chain-fire". I've read that many old pieces have lead smears on the frame from this type of misfire. In case anybody doesn't know this already,a grease or lard "patch" is placed over the ball in each cylinder to prevent this. Even so, they still occured from time to time. This also explains why shooters did not use a two-hand hold, like is usual today. One would certainly not want to have any fingers sticking out in front of the cylinder with those guns!



If I ever get my camera fixed, maybe I'll post some pics of my favorite shootin' irons.

Wow. Great thread.

Guns are amazing. The best thing ever though, is Deer Hunting.

I've been shooting my deer with a nice Browning 30-06, but I'm hoping to get a Savage Axis .223 for Christmas for deer. I think it takes more skill to kill a deer with a smaller caliber. 30-06 is too easy. They just immediately drop whether you go for a heart shot or neck shot. Ammo will be cheaper and it'll add to the collection and thrill of the hunt.
