So much for those of our neighbours across the channel who say it is a consequence of Brexit.

I'm kind of curious what some of the requirements are for where and the company you drive for?
I have been driving for many years now (long haul) but the company I work for is going under and I have to find something new. I recently did a background check for my renewal and was wondering if I would have to do a background check for every company I apply for? I read on this website that some companies can use the same check but only in certain situations https://backgroundcheckrepair.org Bottom line is I've been doing this for years and I hear there's a big issue with finding drivers to come work but I'm here and ready and I've actually been having some trouble finding a good company that pays decent and seems like they'll be around for a while. Thanks for the help. |

Traveled the interstate from Tampa to Hattiesburg over the last two days. There are hardly any trucks moving.

Massive I95 shutdown in Virginia, cars and trucks stranded in the ice for more than 12 hours. What a nightmare!

Look into Wal Mart and also Swift Trucking. Both have a decent reputation and also pay well from what I have been told. I think they both pay more as well for seasoned drivers. Check them out. I think both companies may offer you and your family what you are looking for and need. I'm sure there are other good companies as well. Good luck and all the best in the New Year. |

Got some technical trucker questions.
1. How long can an American truck be max ? 2. how much may a truck max weigh ? Traffic question. 1. When driving in the night on the freeway-what kind of light is the correct to use-Here in Denmark the law says use of high beam shall be used Thanks in advance (YES I could search for it-But I rather like the answer given from an American friend) Markus

Oversized loads can exceed those amounts with special permits. A semi truck is about 70 feet long, combining the tractor and trailer. The length can vary considerably based on: Type of tractor: Sleeper cabs, which have a bed inside for drivers who haul farther away from home, are typically about 20 feet long, though each manufacturer and spec can alter that. Type of trailer: A standard dry van trailer is 53 feet long, which overlapping a few feet over top of the tractor, makes the unit about 70 feet. Double or pup trailers are typically 28 feet in length, while intermodal containers can be 20 or 40 feet. Tanker trailers, flatbeds and a wide variety of other trailer types are available, all in slightly different lengths. State requirements: Companies can often get creative with the length of equipment for specialty freight needs, but each state has different regulations as well for overall length. Back in the '70's, my three year career in a OTH three axel tractor was 65 Ft and 80,000 Lbs except for the "iron Curtain' of mid-continent states which limited gross weight to 73,280 lbs creating a continental crossing limit down to that weight ....but that has been eliminated. Thank you so much Aktungbby for answering my questions.
Reason behind them is-I like to drive my trucks in American Truck Simulator and in European Truck Simulator 2. And my eyes could deceive me-but the trailer I use in ats seems longer than the one I use in ets2. When it comes to light on my truck I'm going to use the full light(beam light) when I drive on the freeway during night time I know that max speed for 3 axel truck is 55 mph. Markus

I knew you would have an answer for that one, Aktung. If not you, then I was guessing Neal would know.

I'm driving with High beam like we shall here in Denmark. (but if this is not allowed according to real traffic law I would not use it) Markus
