I believe that is called a 'hypnogogic' experience, when, in the border between sleep and wakefulness, you clearly 'hear' a snatch of conversation, or your name called or a noise such as a doorbell or phone ringing. People can also 'see' things, though in fact their eyes are closed.

This has happened to me on occasion. It is quite a common experience, so I understand.
Excellent! I'm less insane than I thought.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. No mater how demonstrably wrong or ridiculous that opinion might be. must be great now bowing to the will of reality.

the ultimate word on this thread has been delivered by She-Wolf:

"‘ACHTUNG’! Alles Lookenpeepers! Das Machine ist nicht fur gefingerpoken und mittengraben.
Ist easy schnappen der springenwerk, blowenfusen, und poppenkorken mit spitzensparken.
Ist nicht fur gewerken by das dummkopfen.
Das rubbernecken sightseeren, bitta keepen hands in das pockets, relaxen und watch das Blinkenlampen. Danke
"

Well said!

Really. At first I thought my German was getting better, then I realized what I was reading. Very funny.

Attention!
All eyes. This machine is not for finger-poking and hand-grabbing. It is easy to snap the spring-works, blow the fuses, and pop the cork, resulting in spits and sparks. It is not to be worked by idiots. The gawking sightseers, please keep their hands in their pockets, relax and watch the lamp blinking. Thank you!

It was a sign in my best beloveds work-place. He was an electrical engineer (now retired) and a group leader, working on various secret radar projects for the navy. It seemed a fitting 'warning' in view of some of the stuff they were building. There should always be room for humour in the workplace I think. Works much better in pidgin - German of course.
