Well - if one wants to be technical about it - we all hear voices in our heads that are not ours. After all - the way the ear translates sound is all done internally - vs outside your brain dome.

No sound you hear is actually HEARD outside your ear. It may originate there - and you may be able to define things like direction and such - but the actual hearing - takes place in your head.

We all hear voices? Hmmm... well at least that explains alot.

Now back to the show....

This thread is hilarious. We really can talk out of our collective asses about anything for any amount of time around here, can't we?

As long as we're talking out of our a$$es and not discussing anything productive, has anyone ever been able to clearly hear the voice of another person you know while you are trying to go to sleep?

Speaking of asses, why do you northerners always refer to your donkeys and/or mules?

I believe the word you're after is arse, if you chaps could be arsed typing another letter in :p

Lance - answer is yes. Its normally my fiancee taking a shot at me for not doing something, or forgetting something that is somehow important...

The couch is starting to get pretty full in this thread.

I've never heard voices in my head, but what is strange I will for some reason recall a special moment years ago that I had totally forgotten. My wife bought some new perfume recently and it seems it is the same kind as one of my old girlfriends used. Damn I miss her!!

I've heard that smell is a very powerful sense when it comes to memories, and such occurences are not uncommon.
For your sake, I hope you wife doesn't go through your browser history.

No worries, this was almost 25 years ago, way before I even had a computer.

Yeah but your last post didn't occur before you had a computer.

She knows about her and all, even suggested I try to get in contact with her and see how she is doing, but I feel it is best to just let things be. After so many years much had changed.

What's the saying, "I'd rather remember you for the way you were", or something like that.

I believe that is called a 'hypnogogic' experience, when, in the border between sleep and wakefulness, you clearly 'hear' a snatch of conversation, or your name called or a noise such as a doorbell or phone ringing. People can also 'see' things, though in fact their eyes are closed.

This has happened to me on occasion. It is quite a common experience, so I understand.

Joe,
the guy is either ill, or a fool. If he is ill, his condition may detoriate if he is not getting help, and believe me, schizophrenia is something nobody would like to make jokes about, it must not but can get from bad to worse to worst. If he is a fool, he just got what is a logical consequence of being foolish. In both cases, illness or folly, you do not do him any good favour to normally respect his attitude as if it were repectable. Actually, you encourage him not to see a doctor or not thinking about the foollishness of his acting and saying, and by that you actually do real damage to him.
Yes, I am a gentle soul ... I hear the voice of God.

Yes DT it came to me in the bright sun light of noon day monday, not really a voice in my head ... more like engulfed my whole soul.

I've posted before about hearing God say a hurricane would broach Texas ... this had never happened before in recorded history for a tropical storm to come out of no where and turn into a hurricane overnight, but the real prophecy was at the end of that one to prove that fear of Iran is just that, "Fear".

God said, "If Iran were to launch a missile strike on Tel Aviv it would land in Jordan"

I said all of that right here in the general topics and no one got all upset calling me names. Thank you for sticking up for me, several of you did.

I don't mean to quarrel with anyone, but I seriously think that a homosexual, alcoholic, athesist needs to see a doctor before I do.

St John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

as for the pottery you might be onto something there Letum:
Isaiah 64:8 But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand

also in Isaiah
He is the potter and we are the clay ... can the clay say to the potter what he shall be?
Nay the clay cannot say to the potter what he shall be
