That depends a lot on your GPU , a Geforce 8800 with your specifications can do that quite easily from what I've heard.

So gentlemen, one last word of advice from you. Since AMD appears to have lost the Dual core race , which Intel Dual core processor do you recommend I purchase ? I don't want anything particularly at the top of the line, more of a medium-high range processor.
Its simply a price issue. AMD is working on other things at the moment. Current top tog is Intel and Core 2 Duo. AMD will simply save you money at this point if you go with them, in which case you can buy a better GPU, or maybe 2 GPU's.

AMD has spent more time designing the interface between the CPU's by the way than Intel. They have a superior archetecture in this regard. In the future, expect dual core AMD CPU's coupled to dual core 3870 GPU or better, all on the exact same die. Care to have 2 video cards with that dual core CPU? It will be on it. Intel probably is scrambling to do a better dual / quad technology since they know what is coming down the pike from AMD shortly.

It is fun to sit back and be the consumer at points in time. Right now, this is one of those times!

Default Gamespy Crysis Review

Here is the latest 3 page review of Crysis from Gamespy:

http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/ea-crytek-t.../839785p1.html

BTW, a modder over at Crymod.com has made a autoexec file that gives the
game much more graphic ability from an older PC system. I run the game on
about the lowest settings and it did wonders for what I see now. Framerates
were improved too. I really love the SP maps but the MP is way off base for
me. They need to create a co-op mode in MP to take advantage of the
fantastic maps that SP is using and modders are making....

In regards to crysis tweaking, i found this pretty informative post:
http://www.incrysis.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=11614

I tried the above linked autoexec.cfg and i think it acutally made my frame rate worse, so i went about trying to make my own. One thing noticed is that some of the most FPS killing variables are the shaders. In particular the vegetation and landscape shaders. Its looking like an all or nothing deal on some things.

For example if you cull some of the vegetation rendering to save on FPS, the shadows stick out more, and they flicker like a mofo' and its god aweful ugly. So if you turn the shadows off, all the shaders on vegetation and landscape become pointless. If i could stop that shadow flicker, id be in like flynn.

Seems I have to keep shadows at high to keep them from flickering.

Bummer, that is so counterintuitive to my not so bleeding edge system :rotfl:

Ill have to experiment more later. I swear i spent all last night, and part of this morning, just playing with the autoexec.cfg.

Figured out how to stop the stuttering shadows.

r_ShadowGen=0 (edit: this doesnt work, because the shadow rendering is limited elsewhere, so no new shadows are drawn, its just the immediate area when you firrst load the game).

Heres the autoexec im experimenting with, seems to work good so far. For ingame options With the exception of textures which i set to low, everything else is at medium. Can play with most of the goodies on, with alot less lag.

(edit: Major fight fights, the terrain and plant shaders are just too much.)

Ive never seen such a fantastic looking game before.
The game has been sitting in my draw for the past couple months and i have only just got round to playing it.

Got to the aircraft carrier part and almost lost my jaw

I am still waiting for Crytek to include the co-op MP feature. This would
make it a perfect game that myself and a few buddies could square off
against the NK bots....
