The World Health Organization (WHO) says it has lost communication with its contacts at Gaza's main hospital, Al-Shifa.
The WHO says it has "grave concerns" for the safety of staff and patients there who have become trapped by fighting around the hospital. The BBC has been sent pictures of at least 20 newborn babies being kept in a surgical theatre at the site. The Israeli military says it has agreed to help evacuate babies from the hospital to a "safer" facility but denies Al-Shifa has lost power. Israel's president Isaac Herzog says Hamas has its base underneath the building - something Hamas denies. The Israeli military says it is not hitting the hospital during fighting. Gaza's second biggest hospital, Al-Quds, is also reported by a charity to have run out of fuel. |

If the Muslim autocrats cared about Palestinians they would offer them a place to go while Hamas is defeated. But they don't care about the people. They came together in Riyadh to hold hands with Assad. Hands covered with the blood and tears of his own Muslim people. Democracy's what Palestinians need. Autocrats need an enemy to justify oppression of their own people who who remain docile under a foolish belief they're supporting Palestinian rights when, in fact, they're surrendering their own rights to their autocratic dictator. Turkey turned Hamas into ISIS 2.0 and all these autocrats just joined it. Iran wants to take the lead in war on the US. Let's give them a gift. Not a war but a revolution. De-list PKK & PJAK and give them support to liberate Rojhilatę Kurdistan from the monsters in Qom. Backed by the US, many Iranians will rise up to take back their democracy. Never give an adversary what they expect. Give them what they fear. It's democracy that insures peace. Without it, war, destruction and death are inevitable. And democracy will save the Palestinians. https://twitter.com/TimInHonolulu/st...17401358032957

The World Health Organization (WHO) says Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City "is not functioning as a hospital anymore"
The WHO says "constant gunfire and bombings in the area have exacerbated the already critical circumstances" Doctors there say they fear the remaining 36 newborn babies needing intensive care treatment may die. There have been reports of fierce fighting nearby as Israeli forces continue their ground operation against Hamas. Israel says Hamas has a command centre under Al-Shifa - which Hamas denies - but insists it is not hitting the hospital during fighting. Meanwhile, the US has carried out air strikes on two Iranian bases in Syria, following attacks against its military personnel in Syria and Iraq. |

Over five years ago, in 2018, Gunnar Heinsohn wrote this:
https://www-achgut-com.translate.goo..._x_tr_pto=wapp Hamas knows that no army in the Middle East would treat it as gently as the Israeli army. On any other border, the organization would suffer not two, but five-digit casualties. It would be like Syria, Iraq or Yemen with their permanent wars. The only unusual thing about the Middle East is the Israelis' refusal to deal with the terrorist group in the same way as they want to deal with Jews. Hamas wants to wipe them out, but cannot yet do it properly. However, it can continue to work on this project because Israel refrains from doing what it could do, namely turning the Gaza Strip into an Aleppo or a - recently paradisiacal - Ghouta. Israel - as paradoxical as it sounds - is enabling eco-terror with burning kites in its own fields through its restraint. Hamas sends cautious women to the front with the reassurance that the Israelis do not shoot at women. Children are lured into the firing line with the same promise of harmless heroism. Some are hit after all, because bombers hiding behind them have to be eliminated. Hamas then shouts "child murderer" to the world, and the Islamist capitals from Ankara to Tehran enthusiastically join in, although this time even their Russian ally criticizes Gaza's "extremist" tactics. Only when Egypt demands an end to the actions does Hamas buckle. Its leaders know that Cairo won't be long in dealing with them. At best, the horror gives Israel the chance to learn how to deal with ever larger hostile masses. In 1950, only a quarter of a million people lived in Gaza. Today there are two, but by 2030 there will be over 2.5 million. They can only become angrier and more belligerent. At the same time, their capacity to absorb losses is constantly increasing. In their own way, they are children of the West. Through UNRWA, it guarantees that the fourth child of the third wife will also be fully financed. Because America is no longer involved, Western European countries have brought forward or even increased their contributions. Berlin is transferring just under 80 million in 2017. Added to this is the share of the EU gift of more than €140 million. In relative terms, Switzerland is giving much more at €27 million. This has also enabled Gaza to increase its population by a factor of 8 since 1950, while neighboring Egypt has only just managed to increase its population by a factor of 4. Although nobody explicitly wants it, it is also indirectly about a war between countries and tacit observers of the Holocaust against the descendants of its survivors. It is far from over. -------------- Gunnar Heinsohn died earlier this year. I learned it just today.

US President Biden says Al-Shifa hospital "must be protected" as fighting rages close to the facility in Gaza City.
His comments came as UK PM Rishi Sunak urged Israel to do everything possible to protect civilians in Gaza and called for an urgent humanitarian pause. Israel has accused Hamas of running a command centre under Al-Shifa - which the hospital and Hamas deny. The hospital, Gaza's biggest, is "nearly a cemetery", the World Health Organization has warned, with bodies piling up inside and outside. Dozens of premature babies and 45 kidney patients needing dialysis can't be treated properly due to a lack of power, says the UN The Israeli military says it's in the process of "coordinating the transfer of incubators from a hospital in Israel to Gaza" |
