If one was to put for the hours it would take to do this, i would think its better spent trying to move the mattresss style radar antenna from the front of the conning tower where its NOT supposed to be, to the port side housing on top of the conning tower whre it IS supposed to be. And unlike the HF/DF antenna, the radar antenna acutally does something useful
And move the Observation scope to the front of the control room where IT's supposed to be, and...

If the Radar anetnna were located properly, it would acutaly function correclty in bad weather instead of being shut off everytime a big wave hit the conning tower.

Watch some scenes from Das Boot-they got it right on spot. There's a pole of some kind in the game right where the 'scope should be. Also, it's in the right place externaly, that is it comes up in front of the conning tower right where it should be.

I have some drawings at home. I'm not sure they show it but if they do I'll post them here tomorrow.

Sailor Steve,
Do you mean like this?

The bottom well is not movable by me so it would be in the old location.

edit:
question, how does it blend in with the ceiling?

Oh holy Crap!
I had no idea that this is possible . I assumed there was not real 3D editor for the In-Sub models!

You might be surprised at what we can do. I was working on the radio antenna the other night. That is getting it it raise and lower (possible) but I couldn't figure out how to create a new key command for just the radio antenna.

Looks good. Here is a link to everything I have:

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a3...ve/TypeXXI.jpg

You probably don't need me to explain these, but just in case...
Aft: Looking aft from just in front of the Radio Room hatch.
Aft Left: From Navigator's chart table (roughly). Gauges to left, Conning tower hatch to right.
Aft Right: From bow planesman's position. Conning tower hatch to left, 1WO standing by navigator's table.
Control Looking Forward: SHIII interior.
Control Looking Forward 2: Roughly same position-Conning tower hatch in middle, O-scope right in front of it.
Hatch: Looking aft from Radio Room hatch. Scope is quite close.
Hatch 2: Same shot, different scene.
Planes: Similar to Aft Right.
I scanned plans from 'Submarines Of World War Two'. They're not the best but you can see locations for the different types. It looks like the Type II O-scope actually is behind the hatch.
I hope these help.

Sailor Steve,
Wow thanks mate.

Am I right in thinking that the location of the periscope is the exact spot that 'you' stand in when in the command room?

Or maybe it is just a bit forward...

Eirther way we would have to see about moving 'you'

Yes, at least I'm 90% sure. I've got an action to do the same thing for the TypeVIIC/3 turm. Or maybe I'll move the lookout. I haven't decided yet. Somethings going to change. That's for sure.
