I studied German for nearly 8 years...

...that was 8 years ago and I've since forgotten most of it

Well, at least I can't speak German anymore. I pick it up surprisingly well from text, and I can often understand it nicely from speech as well (never had much problem with SHIII in German, for instance). Strangely, my pronounciation is also mostly intact - but I just can't string more than two words together on my own

Well, theoretically you could somehow use those terms, jokingly... :hmm:

Thanks. I do try, but usually it takes a lot of dictionary searching to find the right words. Living in Germany/Austria definitely helped me to learn more quickly.

Sie hat wohl eena zu Stark am Komma Gezuppt Mich um die Zeit zu Weckn... :rotfl:

Or this one:

Sie Werden sich sofort wieder Erheben oder mir Flicht n Drat aus der Mütze... :rotfl:

If You have some Question about German, ask me.

I know 'Uboote Deutsche', and a couple of curses...in fact I can mutter curses in about four different langauges Comes in handy at work when I can't swear at the customers

As for my other half, well...she's not so good, in fact, I think the only German she knows translates into 'I am a Wellington Boot' which is not that useful I guess....

Then again, for casual conversation, neither is 'Ruhr Eins Los!' I suppose

Default I am european thats lives in US

I can speak, write little german, as long i can order a beer in german i am happy

When i was in Germany in a theme-park i planned to ordered "alcohol free beer"even i was old enough(without showing ID) i can order any brooze i want, but alcohol free beer i was in the mood in that time...

Here i ordered the alcohol free beer in German.
"Her Ober, ein bleifrei bier bitte"
- "EIN WAS?"
i replied again "EIN BLEIFREI BIER BITTE"...
The waiter looks at me, and didn't make a sence...

My friends said i ordered "unleaded beer" in german.

the correct way was" Her ober, ein alcoholise frei bier bitte".

I thought Bleifrie means STAY SOBER in English, but not for the germans lmao

So i was "IN DER ARRSS GEFIKS".... please dont ask me what that means... i know what it means...

Some Germans know the expression "Bleifreies Bier", it´s colloquial, meant as a joke.

"Herr Ober, ein alkoholfreies Bier, bitte".

not to bee to much a teacher but it's

Alkoholfreise Bier and the Bleifrei is the Unleade Fuel only.

When i was in S. Korea i met a few Americans and one told me that he was ashamed that he was speaking only 1 Language and where ever he goes on the World he will be greated in His language. So what's the situation in the US ?
Here in Switzerland the kids learn a second or third language as soo as the elementary shool (6 - 11 Y old) and in the US where they do have so many hispanic Ppl. what are they learning in shool ?

I was working for 7 1/2 Year around the World, sure i speak only a few (6) languages but whenever i was able to talk to the people in their own language half of the work was already done. Sure my English is far from being perfect but it enables me atleast to patrticipate in this forum, like others who talk German do participate in the German Ubi forum.
