I'll buy it as soon as I have a place to set up my computer. I would have bought it on the day of release, but it's kind of silly to buy something you can't play at all.

Buy it. Patch it. Mod it. Enjoy it. Then wait for patch 1.3.

Exactly my problem. At 100%, and things clearly broken, I hope you are good at guestimates since that is how you have to fire torps - through guesses. Of course if you like tracking your quary for days on end before setting up and firing, then you can mathmatically calculate speed, etc. Problem comes with task forces - you don't get a second chance - fire on guesstimate and pray you guessed proper speed, etc.

Except for initial learning the game when I stated at 72% for one career than everything but outside camera on the next career I have always played SH3 at 100%.

I intend on starting SH4 at 100% and never less so I guess I need to wait for 1.3.

Me Too

Have been looking forward to this game, but since I don't have a lot of time to play, I'm not willing to put up with the hassles I've read about. If they come out with a boxed version of software containing the hoped for V1.3 patch, I will immediately go out and buy the game.

Welcome!

I doubt UBI will ever reissue the game with the patches included, that said, it is not hard to install the patches. The patches include all previous work so all you need is the latest one to be up to date.

Cheers

SHIV, Great game, warts and all.

If it helps I have, I believe, a low range system by todays standards.

2.9Ghz P4 (just 1 core :p )
1.5Gb Corsair RAM
GEOFORCE 7600 with 512mb ram(bought so I could play this game as my radeon 9600 sucked)

and I can confirm there are no issues on running SH4.

Not had a DC, apart from the 1st patch which we inherited the "A" CTD error from.

Hence the game is very playable. Therefore by waiting for the 3rd patch to come out is pointless imo. Although I never play at 100% realism so I cannot say for that.

Default Im in.

Well, considering the length of time the games been out and the number of patches, released in said short time, its clear ubisoft is serious about making this game truly awesome. I cant believe the stresses here, if you want half hearted support, you could have bought Medieval2 . Ubisoft seems almost as serious about its games as Anet.

I loved Silent Hunter (C64)... these games just get better. Im in

I would buy now. The game is stable. Game play is good. I'm enjoying the heck out of the S-class.

Not sure I agree here. I play 100% with RFB 1.27 and never have an issue with speed, even with task forces when quick speeds are necessary. By plotting out distance (while setting up your firing solution) you can have speed very close at the 1 or 2 min mark with it nailed spot on by 3mins. Set max/2 as start, mark 0 spot and start timer. Then modify your speed (if necessary) each min. Very quick and works well while working up your firing solution/position.

Buy the game. 1.2 works well with mods like RFB and TM and is very stable even on my mid range computer. There will always be a bunch of people point screaming at the flaws; seems we always key in on that 1% of negative and ignore the 99% positive.

I agree hear also. The TDC is very good if you use it correctly. Last night I have a text book torp sinking. It was a beautiful thing. I do not need the chronometer. The top AOB outline of the target should remain constant to what you physically see, if not, your speed is to great or too slow depending on how it changed over time from initial set up. Once it matches exactly with what his happening outside in the scope view, the TDC is set. Solution is good. The only thing I use the chrono for is timing my dives.

The game is great. 1.3 will make it even better.

She is ugly and slow and did I mention ugly? Really, only the aft section is ugly. She dives great!! Did my first patrol in the S last night. Perfect text book torpedoing of a merchant. Never did that in the other subs. I'm mean perfect shot, one torp to just after the stack and the vessel went down. It was very gratifying. I will be out again tonight with the old S. She is just so simple and spars with things. You really feel you are half way sunk motoring around in the S.
