It does a lot more than that. Randomizes starting crew and experience, you can start in any flotilla in any month/year with any historically correct boat, you can fix time compression settings, you can create career files, it simulates crew transfers, sabotage/malfunctions....its a must!

I've said it before and I'll say it again: if I could only choose one mod or tool at all it would be SH3 Commander before any of the greatest mods. It's that important, as far as I'm concerned. Then I'd choose...

SH3Commander is probably the single best universal mod ever made
There is so much more it adds to ANY version of the game
Even now it is under used

In my view I would play the vanilla version through a few patrols. Get a feel for what is missing and what would be good to add. Generally get a feel for using torps and navigation. Then load in GWX so you know for sure what these guys have done with SH3 is nothing short of a masterpiece. At this point you become a mod junkie looking to score more and more. Beating up the GWX team to make more and create more. Then and only then will you truly appreciate the guys that mod and made this game whole
