But more important is this:
This board is like most (not all) fligsim forums. People here and for example at www.avsim.com are polite, patient and helpfull.
I think it has something to do with "being captains all together". Its a sort of honor code, a captain of a ship, or a plane, will never openly attack another captain. Because we are all virtual ''bosses'' or Kaleun's. We do it our way, and learn from each others stories.

FPS guys, are solists, thinking that their attack or approach is the best, and since they respawn within 20 seconds or so, can go all over again untill death.

We on the otherhand have a carreer of years, go over long distances and do our thing. Same for the flightsim guys (I am one of them). It takes tedious preparations to go from a to b as in real life, and Kaleuns between each other know that!. In other words, respect.

Anyone get my drift?
I think Johan here hit the nail on the head. Sure GW and GWX have played a part... but I think that's only scratching the surface. I think lots of things contributed to the big waves happening here.

It is also wort mentioning how the correspondance between ATC and pilots are on IE the vatsim servers. Those time i have flown there, the ATC are always mature & helpful. But i really think the Subsim forums are the best i have ever seen, concerning helpfullness & maturity.

Can't argue with that

Hell!!...some of the sites I visit on occasion (mIRC and private/invite only forums) it's almost 'custom and practice' to receive some form of abuse or other

I think the fact that most people in this forum are polite and helpfull has to do with the fact that most of us are not 15. If you see the kind of stuff people tell to each other in forums where loads of kids go (like Guild Wars etc) you will be stuned. That's why I like it here. We're all adults and we behave. Ocasionally we have our fights but deep inside there is a deep level of trust and respect. That's why I'm still around. If I want abuse and foul language I can have it all at work (within reason)

I agree that this forums are the most friendly ones around. From all the forums I've been to (not many, but still...) I have only seen one more forum similar to this one, although there are always some young kids who think they know everything. Even kids here know they have to behave or Sailor Steve will be in their closet after dark

Default SH4 could be part of the reason for the interest too.

SH4's been officially posted on Ubisoft's site for a 16 March 2007 release. SH4 could bring a lot of new people to SH3+GWX, as well. The 2 games really compliment one another.

Sailor Steve rocks. The Spiderman and Superman posters rock too.

Very cool I think!

Congrats to Neal Stevens and Co.
Agreed, I was away for 2 weeks and I feel like complete stranger here. I dont have any idea what has happened, who is still here, who has left etc. Damn you GWX!!! :rotfl:

Job well done.

Welcome back Dowly...hows life in the army?
The usual motley crew can still be found lurking in TS

Your right about the sudden upsurge in activity here...I put it down mainly to the GWX Syndrome (incureable)

Pop in on TS soon as you can mate
