I acually got a girl's number because she wanted to play an AOK lan game with me and my friend the other week

Never played TA but I do have TA:K. It was a good game, I remember building trebuchete ships and sieging people with them.

I don't know much about TA:K or girls that actually like to play the same RTS as I do......but TA is much better than TA:K what I've picked up about it, and it aint much.

He should call her and say he is going to play "T & A" and ask if she's ready......:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Trying to remember the RTS based on WWII ground units (sovs, germans and allies) with inf, AT-guns, AA, tanks and arty....online was a hoot...capture spawn points (balloons?) and you'd get reinforcements. Had repair/resupply vehicles, ambulances, snipers....AARRGH - what was it called??!! Some battle got REALLY intense....friend and I played some others for a total of 2.5hrs....they won, but said it was the best fight they'd had. Good thing was you could play it using dial-up, and it wasn't populated by 12yo imbeciles who cheated and bitched all the time.....

Empire Earth is a very good game. It has a very nice tag line "conquer all of human history". That isn't official but that's about it. Wanna know why TA is so much better?

Anymore questions?

That would be Sudden Strike, another great game that has been lost to time.

OK mate, keep your horses down. I said I never played TA. Only TA:K which was in my opinion a nice, but not a very good game. I never played C&C either, so I can't be called the C&C generation kid

Maybe, in some future, I'll get myself an old nice Win98 machine and play all the cool games. Just yesterday my dad somehow found while cleaning our place up, some old combat flight sim games. S-27 from SSI, Hind, F22,... Those were excellent games. I remember playing Hind for hours on the time, having unlimited bombs and taking out the $hit of of those enemies.

I also remember playing games I never had the chance to win. EVER!!! But I still payed them for hours on time because they were good. And fun. And preety.

Times change. But some games shall forever remain classics and hit!

Respensus I wasn't being a spaz. I was just being passionate. That game really has that effect on people that played it. Compared to games before and after it no RTS has been so replayable and moddable and just plain exhilirating. And I never accused you of being a C&C gen kid (not that C&C was bad). I was merely stating that TA advanced the RTS genre a year before the culminating game of the C&C generation was even released; ie Starcraft.

If you are a smart and tactically minded gamer (you probably are if you dig SH3) then I'm sure back in the day TA would have made you forget Starcraft.

And also you don't need 98 to play TA. It isn't antiquated. It's graphics and engine are actually more advanced than Starcraft's and the community is very outspoken on bugs and other issues that need fixing.

All you need is a copy of TA and you'd be set.
