Once upon a time, this thread got an arrow to the knee, but somebody came and managed to pull it out.

I'm guessing this meme must be a Skyrim reference? I keep seeing it all over the place and since that's the latest big thing...

Been debating whether to buy it after seeing a lot of great reviews, but then I've read some negative reviews about the PC version which is what I would be getting. And it's not the kind of game I usually play, but then neither were subsims until I caught that particular bug. Plus it's still kinda pricey for something I might not actually play very much.

It used to be a Skyrim meme, but then it took an arrow to the knee.

And it's pretty good...well, okay, it's very good. One of the best games to come out this year, in fact.

I'm going full fanboy and say that once complete (final patches, DLCs and whatnot), Skyrim will be the greatest RPG of all time. Not only does it look pretty, but the gameplay is astonishingly brilliant.

See, that's what I'm hearing... that it's awesome. I have no experience with the series so wouldn't even know what to expect, but from what I've heard it doesn't matter if you played the previous titles or not.

But are you playing the PC version, or the console version? Cuz I've heard that makes a difference, some PC gamer reviews are saying they did not do enough to make the PC version "PC friendly" and that it makes getting through menus and stuff like that a real PITA.

Of course I will probably wait anyway until the aforementioned patches and stuff have been released and the price has gone down a bit.

And then by that time it will no longer be the current "big thing" and nobody will be talking about it any more and I won't be tempted to buy it, thus saving myself even more money.

Also I understand the whole point is to kill dragons which I'm not too keen on.

I'm playing on PC, and I really don't find the menus clunky. Also, it is optimized very well and it runs smoothly. I always thought that the PC versions were the strongest for any Bethesday game.

No, you don't need to know a thing about the series or have played any of the previous games to enjoy it. The game is a total sandbox, so you are the one who makes the story. And not all of the dragons are evil. In fact, there is a shout that calls a good dragon to fight alongside you.

You and my other half should form a protest group.

That's not a spoiler. Bethesda was saying so before the game was even out.

Well, that's good to know. Just in case. OTOH I've already got one "quest" type game sitting here that I've never even played.

But can I love him and hug him and call him "George"?

@FK

You'll find that Skyrim is something you can play for years as the modding
community is huge for TES games. Bethesda is releasing the modding tools in
January AFAIK.
