I feel like an idiot here but my processor is 1.6ghz. Are you talking about another kind of processor?

Is it straight forward to change the processor? Or do I need to do adjustments etc?

You shouldn´t do that yourself, order the CPU, bring the PC to a computer dealer and let them change the CPU.
