I've never had the IX, I can reach far flung places using the cows. I do generally run out of ammunition though so maybe I should be looking at getting a new boot.

The boat type is irrelevant, its what you intend to do - that is the real question, because your intent dictates what is the best tool (boat) for the job.

I like to use the VIIC most of the time, especially for a quick attack on a convoy or task group or the occasional harbor raid. Though, to be honest, I always try to get transferred to a type IX around late '41 so I can partake in Paukenschlag. Shelling Whaling ships and tankers in the Caribbean is always a blast (no pun intended)

I would say VIIC it's faster, dives faster and so on....
But around 1941 im doing like f4wildweasel and changes to IX

Hope BDU can get enough IXs built to go around.
