Just wanted to comment on Venatore's actual report: Wow! That was an unpleasant surprise. Glad you survived it and returned to base in one piece (more or less). Condolences on your crew loss and better luck next time.

Thanks Sailor Steve, I was looking down and to my left at a life-raft close to mu U-boat, I was wearing my 7.1 Dolby surround sound G35 Logitech headphones and when the explosion erupted it scared the crap out of me the slow sinking ship was to my right about 20/30 meters away, this was something I didn't know about this wonderful game was that your crew may possibly die/wounded and the U-boat may/can sustain damage if you get too close to the danger blast area of a sinking ship. I thought everything was ok because it was sinking really slowly and there hadn't been any violent explosions coming from this vessel.

Just when you think your the best U-boat commander sailing the seven seas, a event happens like this and you feel like a wanker

I love WaW - it's a great experience and really helps with the immersion. The lads at BdU have done a brilliant job.

In fact, it's about time I dusted down my commander's cap, build a new install and join up again.

Oh what a lovely WaW!

You've never read the many posts I've made about my own experience with this? There was once a thread about "Your shortest careers". When people were posting about leaving the dock at flank speed and crashing and killing themselves, I posted about how I was killed by being to close to an exploding cargo ship - while doing the Acadamy Artillery School! I never even got to the career!
