It's about time we stopped refering to him as Mohammed Al-Fayed and called him by his real name - Mohammed Fayed.
As I understand it the 'Al' portion of his name he added to make himself sound more grandiose http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al- Mohammed The Fayed is how it reads.
It'd be like me refering to myfelf as 'Esquire'. There's nothing to say I cannot call myself as such, just that it doesn't really mean anything.
