I tryed. I will ask around and see if anyone knows a solution. I just got a PM from a guy who showed me pics from his game and he also has white wake and foam effects so there is something in our 2 games that matches. I will try and track it down for you and then post it when I find it.

it's in the shaders effects I found an add on in a mod that has the wake shaders in it so here is a JSGME ready download to try out.

I'm afraid the new shaders didn't work. First thing I did when I got up was try them been playing with it all morning. I'm begining to wonder what the 1.3 patch did to the files that render the wake/bow wave graphics. One idea I had was to clean install to 1.0, copy the relevant files, patch to 1.3 and then put the files back in and see what that does. Otherwise I'm wondering if the problem is at my end and its just my system that won't render the graphics correctly possibly an ATI issue? I wonder what graphics card Redwine is using? It seems strange that practically everybody else has white wakes and Redwine and me have blue, when presumably the game files are the same and the 1.3 patch is the same.
Anyway more invesigation I think but I have to go out and spend my birthday money on more submarine books! ![]() |

ATI X800 XT PE 256mb, and not related to Catalyst version, i was having white splashes with this present catalist version previously to v1.3.
I think it is the "improved" wakes mentioned... I think so we need to identify the effect into particles and look for the colour... :hmm: but i am working n lot of diferent things now, i have not time to investigate it... ![]() The main problem is there is not a minitweaker file for particles.dat , and when you open a file with S3Ditor... it seems ti chage the lines adress because after open a file with it, you can not use any more minitweaker... try the particles file I sent you because I have white wakes, Kriller has white wakes
and so does one of my other testers because he sent me a bunch of screen shots and they where all white. If that dosn't work then I will ask Kriller to take a look at the wake master textures and see if there is something there that can be done. |

When you reinstalled the game and added the patches did you add the patches one at a time or did you just do the 1.3 patch that had everything on it?
Example: I deleted my entire game and started from scratch had my reasons for that one. But anyways I added one patch at a time from 1 - 3 instead of doing the all in one patch. I havn't a clue if that made a difference but was wondering if how you did it is differn't from how I did it. |

On my original installation I did 1.2 and then patched to 1.3, IIRC. This time when I clean installed I just patched strait to 1.3, it has occured to me that that might have something to do with it. Might try that out later, I've no half finnished patrols so I wont lose anythng if I clean install again.

Ok I think I might have got to the bottom of this after spending all night uninstalling, installing, downloading (which took ages) etc etc etc....
Tried another clean install and loaded all the patches on individually. After the first one I checked the graphics and my bow wave/wake had turned blue. So loaded the other two and still blue wake. But I noticed something strange about the wake in SH4 1.0 ie unpatched. The foam from the bow wave and the spray at the stern of the boat was white but the graphics for the rest of the wake, where the foam spreads out over the water and fades, was the same blue colour as the bow wave becomes after I patch to 1.1. I hadn't really paid much attention to this before but I think it points to it being my system being the problem and not any of the files in the game or patch. Specifically I think it might be another ATI side effect peculiar to Redwine and my graphics card set ups. The original bow/wake effects in Sh4 were very similar to Sh3 so my system didn't seem to have any trouble with them (might explain why the modded hospital ship still had a white wake as it was ported in from SH3), but the newer graphics seem to come out blue for some reason. Redwine said his card set up was an ATI X800 mines an X700 so I'm guessing that the his is prob just the next step up on mine techwise and so they aren't a million miles away from each other which might explain why we both get the effects. Other ATI cards might not have the problem. Seawolf34 posted earlier in the thread saying that he gets a similar effect on his card but that it only lasts for a second and then turns white so I think other cards have no probs dealing with it. I tried all sorts to cure this copying files out of unpatched SH, enabling them with JSGME but nothing seems to work ![]() ![]() Thats my theory anyway might be wrong who knows, just hope that the dreaded blue wake syndrome doesn't rear its head with a new graphics card then I really will ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

When the game crashes started that was it for me!
Want my old factory tweeked out Nvidia SLI 256 card? I kept them when I got my new one's for back up just incase. Sorry you had to go through so much to find out what was going on. But thanks to you now everyone with that problem knows why they have blue wakes. |

![]() I only have an ATI card by default really as it came installed on my system when I got it about two years ago (IIRC) and until now I've not had much trouble with it seemed to run things ok (no lense flare and blue wakes aside) but think its time to change. Feel a lot better now I've got to the bottom of things, otherwise think it would have really begun to niggle me! |
