That 05 00 still has me stumped....
Animation type ...
could be
05 mesh animation
04 object animation (ie Airplane propellers)

also apparently is the same value as the 0A block subtype.

that very well could be the animation type.

The import function of Silent Animator is complete......and BY GOD IT WORKS!!
Using my new app I successfully exported all 25 animation frames of the flag, Imported them into Wings3D and scaled them down to 30%, exported them out of Wings3D, and then imported them all back into Silent Animator and had it write the new values to the DAT file. I think a screenie will show the results:

A perfectly scaled down to 30% original value flag with NO animation glitches what-so-ever. This is magic!!

Now I have to make it add whole new animations that don't exist in the files.......

I guess it's only possible to do looping animations?

good question. What other kinds of animations are present in SH3? I have not dove THAT far into the files yet is why I ask. Can you give me an example?

I guess turret animations, but they are probably done in an other way since they are controlled by AI.

I would think so, since the DF loop in GWX does it too (disappear underwater)

check the 'Combat Flag' thread out as this information is posted there. The flag is not visible when you're underwater. I have included a tweak file so that you can enable it (make it visible) underwater if you so like.

I plan to release a BETA version of Silent Animator in the next couple of days once I write up all the documentation on how to use this powerful tool. New features will continue to be added but right now it's a very workable version for use by all.

Does anyone know where I can find this trap container he speaks of? I'd like to disassemble it.

I think he's talking about a container which has a gun inside, like it was done on Q-ships, I think if you search on the net for Q-Ships you may find a pic... when they lured the U-boat to the surface they would pull down the walls of these containers and fire at the U-boat.

I think it should be possible to build, because there popped up another animation type in my head, and that is the one used for the outer torpedo doors.

Edit: Oh I think there is no such container yet, since there wasn't yet a possibilty to build it in a realistic way.

I found this interesting and thought I would share. I used Silent Animator to scour for animations and found these so far (they are all broken down into the keyframes that make the animations):

dolphin:
http://rapidshare.com/files/49267510/dolphin.7z.html

female nurse:
http://rapidshare.com/files/49267866..._nurse.7z.html

flag (from flag.dat):
http://rapidshare.com/files/49267917/flag.7z.html

flag (from flagS.dat):
http://rapidshare.com/files/49267989/flags.7z.html

Pierside band members:
http://rapidshare.com/files/49268278...embers.7z.html

Seagull:
http://rapidshare.com/files/49268346/seagull.7z.html

You can open up the .obj files in Wings3D, Maya, or similar to view.

Interesting little tool this, Could you in theory use it to create sails that billow in the wind?
