Taking part in Operation Spinnennetz should give you the needed information. If you tweak your patrols with SH3Gen you might get some expected contacts there too.

in that grid you ALWAYS encounter a convoy... it's just a matter of grid assigned by BdU, sometimes it's to far away. Passage between Greenland and Iceland probably. First I went NE from Bergen. Went after 70°N and was encounting only enemy airplanes (to far from home as I suppose). Can't tell what happened later because I lost my save during sume modding... from the map there should be convoys to Murmansk.

Waters out there are really great for hunting, mostly big waves, slight overcast with low sun but airplanes are very dangerous. Around 60°-70°N it gets serious but above 70° ure f...ed as there is no night to hide and recharge batteries. The only way is to jump on the surface, give it bigger revs to cover as much area as you can before next plane...
