I've had torps go too deep myself but no boomerangs yet that I know of. Hmm. If you don't have external views on and can't see the wake, how do you know if it's looping back at you? Do you listen on sonar? Or just dive and pray?

I've had that happen to me as well. Once in the training mission. I lined up my shot, fired all 4 at the Mogami and waited. Next thing I know, my crew was sreaming and my sub was sinking..., but somehow I managed to survive and sunk the cruiser with 3 of my torpedos.

You can see the wake through the periscope.

Well, if we are to believe all those classic sub movies, the guy on the hydrophones would report that your torpedoes are 'running hot straight and normal' if they are doing okay, and I did consider modifying the launch wav file to include this, but if they weren't 'running hot straight and normal', it would be a bit silly, so I never bothered

However, you could track them yourself on the hydrophones (assuming it's a submerged attack) and then say it to yourself for the ultimate in immersion

I just lost my brand new shiny Balao to a dead gyro on a torp!

It would be nice if the sonar man would report more than just "Torpedo in the water" and give something more meaningful like "Torpedo running normally" or "Nohmygod! Dive captain! Dive!"
