Being a firm believer in the "Dead-if-Dead" paradigma in simplaying, I say congrats Herr Kaleun, a post mortem Ritterkreuz to you and a extra pension to your widow at home. A lousy IIB versus a BB was definately worth the sacrify for the fatherland.

Cheers,

Ok this can be taken two ways extreme good luck or really really bad luck but ive made it up to September 1941 and haven't met one BB or TF yet. Im using the GWX mod are there any dates I should look out for where there will be lcongregations of these lumbering beasts.

While I have racked up good tonnage and found clever ways to axe a few DD's I have yet to encounter a task force, much less even a battleship. I'd settle for a honkin cruiser or two in a convoy. My last convoy had three armed troop transports, but they were centered so I took out two C2's and a merchant instead. When I do find a taskforce I'll probably crap myself.
Then again U-Boats were all about sinking cargo ships.

Well i have GWX 1.2 and VIIC,84% realism, shame me iam using WO for the math, .i use commander for lunching the game,it gives me date like may 1940 but in the game i had april 40 so a bit of bug here but now to your question,i guess its bit too late for u but the invasion of Norway is really cool,i went close there and on the way there were at least 5 task forces, i met 2 Nelsons but had only one torp loaded so i shot it 2000 meters from the ship, aiming for ammo bunker, hit but not good enough, they jetted away, leaving 3 dds on my ass. When i escaped in 200 m deep and was heading to Narwik to help my guys i came across huge task force with Carrier in it... + cruiser and 6 dd,they were going fast so i had to risk it to get into possition on time, surfaced and went 16 kt,then dived to periscope depth and continue full on,got about 1000-850 meters from the beast and fired all my torps 4,set on impact,4m, and shot one by one because the bastard usually avoid very fast and change speed and direction...bad luck for me only one hit, even it went into the fuel tank the bastard went on with no slowing only badly tilted,i escaped in deep waters again to meet him again on my way to homebase with my last torp i managed to shoot at him again,he had no visible damage from last encouter no tilt,i guess they fixed it,i hit it but they all disappeared in darkness,i got home with 3 dead sailors from surprised air raid on us.....
For your question read GWX manual there are scripted war operations usually with many action and ships....

I’m a little envious.
To get a battleship in a career, now you can take a rest and reap the awards.

wow sounds like i was lucky (or unlucky, per my widow) to run into these BBs. i will progress into more realistic simming, like no reloads. this is my first career, and my first time playing any sub sim, so i'm using this career for learning. haven't even encountered a real convoy yet, except the one in the tutorial

i would like to use GWX after this career but my comp is extremely laggy with even vanilla. sometimes it takes half a second to move the cursor. as you can guess, when this happens it takes eons to flip through identification manual and set torpedo options. i've been told that GWX is even more demanding on the system, so i might need to wait for a new puter before being able to play it.

Try disabling the event cam if you haven't already.
I don't miss it at all. When I was testing out different mods getting rid of that helped out alot.

the thing is, it doesn't turn laggy when the event cam comes on. it is randomly laggy even without any event. rough seas makes it worse. i think it has something to do with water transparency

i'll try a patrol without the event cam. see if it helps
