Cheers mate...the latest 'Boscombe Down' addition came in the parcel post this afternoon so I'll take a few shots and post her here tomorrow.

The latest addition to the Boscombe Down section of the collection....

The Hawk AA36007 1155/1501

I've just ordered the three retirement squadrons Harriers from Hobbyboss for nostalgia reasons

Very nice Jim, very nice indeed. Seems funny seeing a Hawk in anything other than the Red Arrows scheme, even though I've seen the Black RAF special at the local airshow. Look forward to seeing the Harriers.

This place is up the road from me . Imagine an old tin shed stacked to the ceiling with tens of thousands of model cars and planes . It was like a wonderland when my kids were little .

An aladdins cave....that's how I remember some of my childhood model/toy stores.

Sadly, most of them have gone now.

I couldn't remember seeing a rippled Hawk, and then I saw the word ASTRA and it all came flooding back.

Looking forward to pics of the Harriers!

Half way through reading your post alarm bells started ringing...I'm pretty strong on authenticity and wouldn't want an innacurate colour scheme in the collection

I agree with Jim on authenticity of the aircraft colors, pilot name on a particular aircraft represented and configuration. Specifically if the aircraft is to represent the colors of a ace pilot.

Rgr that Chris.

Here is a picture of the Harriers from somebody elses collection (remember, my collection is still 'in' the bed and a few other places atm).

I will of course post my own set of pictures when the aircraft arrive.

These are nice models. The only thing I dislike is dusting the things.

The Black coloured Hawks are quite common afaik and fly out of RAF Valley (if it hasn't been closed by now)

The past couple of years I've hired a six bedded house at Bowness-on-Windemere overlooking the lake and would see them at least twice per day doing low flying training over the lake...a great site.

Here is my collection example:

I've also got the two examples below:

Too true...the bug bear of any model collector. I'm going to try and lessen that burdon as much as possible by purchasing some of these:

http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/S69887563

EDIT: I meant to add...some of the diecast 'experts/rivet counters' are already slating the Harriers, saying they were rushed into production and have numerous innacuracies in their colour and panel lines etc.

The Hobbymaster Harriers from 1Sqn, 4Sqn and 800NAS in their disbandment scheme livery arrived today.

I was suprised to see that they each came with their own print.

This is the 1Sqn variant, the other two are the same with regard to weapons loadout...all that differs is the tail art and print.

Overall I'm quite pleased and the collection now includes eleven Harriers.

Getting quite a collection. I wish Matchbox Collectible did not stop making the 1:72 scale diecasts. I would still be purchasing these models.

Well the boys house purchase is going okay and I expect to be exchanging contracts on his behalf within the next two months so I've got two more Boscombe Down versions to collect (Canberra and Hunter) then that'll be it until I cam move into the man cave?

Did you manage to look at the bottom link of #192 (wall cabinets)?

What do you reckon...suitable or not?
