I'll go mental if only the wife and I appear in our Close.

So it's true. Stupid is as stupid does. Today I was at a local supermarket. I took as many precautions as I could. Brought my own bags, didn't use a cart, didn't touch anything but the items I bought and wore surgical gloves. The store takes a lot of precautions as well. They no longer handle your credit or airmiles card and constantly wipe down surfaces at the checkout. They have also erected plexiglass barriers to protect the cashiers. I know it's not perfect but everyone is trying.

So I go to stand in line at the express lane as is my custom. In front of me is a lady who is standing at least eight feet from the guy in front of her. She is wearing a mask and when she sees me about four feet behind her she pulls up her hoodie and tightens the strings. I smile and as she is paying I see what she is wearing on her hands. Knitted gloves, the kind you wear in the winter time. I kid you not.

I resisted the temptation to say something. My wife told me she is proud of me.

I am disgusted and shamed of the people of the UK tonight was it so much effort to clap!

Jim, apart from myself and the neighbour on the corner of my road no one else!

The daughter message me to say I should take into account there are mainly old people on my estate (which is wrong) and the event was organised mainly on social media (not so sure about that either because the news channels were certainly flagging it up this morning).

Maybe not all were aware, not all use internet as we do.

^ edit: that was nice

Agreed it was on SKY news well before 8pm. I am not having ago at people who could not take part in any way but those who could have.....SHOULD HAVE!

The NHS is on the front line and our Doctor's and Nurses and others are putting themselves at greater risk to take care of those patients suffering the worst of this dam virus.

Bosch brings a new quick test early April. The kit comes in a cartridge that allows analysis of the sample within 2.5 hours and without external laboratory. It has a reliablity of 95%, which is de3scribed by the WHO as "sufficient" for licensing, and also tests on over half a dozen other lung infections, assisting doctors further to decide for or rule out Corona. If it works like Bosch claims, its pretty much what we need now: a quick and reliable testkit that can be run in every doctor's practice rooms or hospital, drive-in or improvised testing station. Staff does not need extended special training, the kit cartridge works mostly by itself and includes all needed ingredients and agents.

Bosch runs an own medical technology department. Just saying, since this probably is not known by many people. I mean: they have experience with med tech.

There are a lot of companies here who help, seldom mentioned though.
Also a lot of private help, getting all kinds of goods, supporting nursing homes or elder people living alone.

But bad news are good news for the media, so you don't hear much of that ...

Applause does not pay their bills. Payment rises do. Problem is the latter costs money. Also, material supply problems getting solved would be a nice form of supporting them.

Sorry, I am just not into that "symbolic acts" sort of business. Do your deed, add your donation, donate blood if they still let you, spend money, vote for pay rises, mailbomb politicians to get the material issues solved. Clapping hands is more about the hand clappers themselves than the nurses if applause is all what the nurses get.

The same applies to many other underpaid job groups as well. When you need them, you chant for them, and once its over, they get forgotten again soon. Seen it so often .

Do not appllaude - donate. contribute. spend. Press politicans and companies. Applause alone pays no bills, its cheap.

Probably one in ten use the internet as an information superhighway, the other nine out of ten use it for selfies, jokes, candy crush, and God knows what else. LOL

09:00 ff

"How do we beat this thing? Everybody wears a face mask."

In the second half of it he compares two basic scenarios basing on two differen assumptions, that must lead to different political and economical fallout. He concludes that apparently our leaders have chosen to go with the wrong one, thus maximising the fallout damages. I am cautiously and hesitently agreeing with it, since his reasoning on this was new to me and I am not yet fully settled with my choice of opinion over this.
