I had no idea wolfpacks were in GWX... So thats whats going on, it explains alot about the lag and burnign ships, guess I missed that in the manual. (too bad they cant do torp attacks...)

The ship that suddenly exploded wasnt from me. I only fired one stern torp and it had already hit the intended target, very odd.

The CTD's have only happened twice so big deal... (other then the long reload times...)

Still Im preplexed by the recent no credit for sinking problems, and that mystery exploding ship.

You may not be getting credit because they are still being damaged by AI gunfire after your torpedo has hit them, or you have moved out of rendering range (approx 30km).

The only surefire way of knowing you've got the credit for the kill is when you receive the message 'She's going down'.

The CTD's your experiencing in the Black Sea area of the map is something nobody has been able to fathom out yet.

Additionally, viewing the eastern portions of the nav map have produced occasional CTD's LONG before TGW/GWX was created.

It happens to me when I try to view Siberia on occasion. (Was trying to reproduce CTD's via testing.)

Well thats the thing, I was well within rendering range and I got the "she's going down" on two of them yet none showed up in my log. (which is usually fairly accurate compared to the nav maps sunken ships icons) I didnt notice any AI gunfire either.

Ive decided not to look at the eastern part of the map anymore...

I'll try it agian, Ive got save game from when I first got the convoy report (Im well over 50km away from it or land) that I'll reload, though I imagine things will turn out totally differently.

did this take place after the aforementioned wolfpack attack?

perhaps the ships that sank went down as a result of damage sustained earlier in the fight and not as a result of damage you inflicted?

From my experience the CTD in the Mediterranean (when i was there with W@W) or the Black Sea were always with Time Compression!
And scrolling the map too fast!:hmm:

With a little caution I managed to avoid that in my career before I was ordered into the Atlantic again!

Agreed, time compression and map scrolling are often a common factor....but as you correctly state, there is a workarond for them.

Yes it did, however that particular ship (the one I didnt fire at) had no visiable damage, it wasnt on fire... she just blew up on her own. I was in an XB, I had already hit one ship behind me and there was still one more eel in the rear torp room (I checked it myself )

Perhaps a crewman was negligent with his ciggarette

The CTD's did happen when I was zoomed out and using TC yes.

Now this next part is ironic, considering I didnt know there was other AI german subs & wolfpacks cruising around, let alone ever seen any. I started a new game last night in a VII. (I prefer the VII's over the IX's...) Anyway I cruising west of the Bay of Biscay my watchman calls down, sub spotted at 50 degree's sir... Sure enough there was a VII off my starboard, so I cruised up beside him to say hello... it was Thompson, Thompsonnnnn!...

I just thought it was pretty funny, considering the above posts, Ive never seen another AI sub in 3+ months of playing and it happens just after all this confusion on my part.

Very cool!

Yes Ive seen italian and british subs before but never a german one out at sea, Ive seen them when leaving ports of coarse.

But running into one out at sea that far from port was a first. Maybe tonight I'll seem one engaging a merhcant.

Sorry, should have clarified that part...
