Ok able to do this earlier than I thought I will try my best not to post to many similar pics to what has already been posted. (no guarantees!)
I will start off the BB Texas shots. I tried to take shots of the gauges and gadgets for the tech folks out there and less of the touristy stuff. As I said before I will not label ALL the photos but will number them so Sailor Steve can have fun try to guess what shots are where, etc. 1. ![]() 2. ![]() 3. UnderSeaLncCpl (left) NikiMcBee (Right) ![]() 4. Thats a loooong corridor.. ![]() 5. ![]() 6. The hardhat tour is not for the faint of heart, close quarters and precarious ladders abound. I was chomping on Hydrocodone for 3 days after it. ![]() 7. ![]() 8. ![]() 9. ![]() 10. ![]() 11. ![]() 12. ![]() 13. ![]() 14. ![]() Ok That covers the Magazine section. Theres about 101 photos of the Texas. I won't subject you folks to all of them and I will break them down into sections.

You guys in the states are so lucky keeping your old battleships, we've only got the 'Belfast' she's a handsome enough ship but only a 6" gun cruiser.
Oh yeah, and put me down for Copenhagen!

Okay, here we go!
1. 3" mount on the starboard side, right beside #3 14" turret. 2. Stack of shells on display. Can't tell the location or size from the picture, but I'm guessing 14" or else people would be picking them up and carrying them around. 3. In the covered 5" gun room. Those are 5" shells they're looking at. 4. Who knows? A corridor is a corridor. Of course we can all see the sign that says 'Cafeteria', so that's one thing there. 5. Ship's machine and fabrication shop. On a ship that big they have the ability to make new parts when needed. 6. I could be misremebering, but I think that's the ladder that took us down to the Handling Room level. You can't see it, but just to the left as you climb down is the original ladder, which is just rungs welded onto the bulkhead. 7. Handling Room. That's where the shells and powder are loaded into hoists to be carried up to the turret. We're looking at the access ladder that leads up to the next level, where everything is transferred to yet another hoist for safety from an explosion in the turret. 8. UnderseaLcpl and some old sailor in the powder room. The powder bags were stacked in the cradles James is stepping in. 9. Our Guide demonstrating the powder bags. Full of powder they weighed 105...125...a lot! 10. Our Guide showing us the powder safety doors between the powder handling room and the main handling room. The powder bag is placed into the cradle and the door closed. The bell is rung, indicating that it is safe to open the door on the other side. 11. The safety door control lever. 12. The other side of the safety door, in the main handling room. 13. One of the shell rooms. You can see the shells stacked vertically, nose down, and the hoist for moving the 1250-pound shells. 14. The shell hoist. You can see how someone might slip and drop the shell before the chain was attached, causing the dimples we saw in the 1/2" steel deck. And that's the magazine, shell and handling rooms. ![]()

1. A very bad profile of me in the steering room.
2. UnderseaLcpl (James) shows how a marine does it. 3. They expect me to steer this thing all by myself? 4. The Terrible Trio pretends they're actually doing something. 5. Steering room switches and plug-in stuff. Hey, I don't know everything! 6. Just what it says. When you speak into a sound-powered phone, the sound waves actually generate a current that carries to the listener. Kind of an advanced tin-can-and-string system. 7. HEY! There's no seven! ![]() 8. Our Guide explaining the steering room, as his Follower and Dano1 listen. The Follower is just that - she goes last, makes sure that nobody gets lost, and keeps the guide on schedule. Those guys tend to start talking about their subject and never stop...kind of like me. 9. James looks at some switches somewhere. "They're bakelite, so don't touch them - they're very easy to break!" 10. Crew bunks. They're everywhere, and where they aren't there still are hooks where they used to be. The ship was designed for a crew of about 800, and during World War Two she carried 1800. No extra space at all on that old tub! 11. The brig. Yes, the doors on the right that look like big lockers are actually the cell doors. Our guide told us that in that brig the inmates were given bread, water and a bucket. That's it. You don't want to go there, except as a tourist. 12. A corridor that goes nowhere. Storage, I would guess.
