Talking as a parent, i don't see that even lower cost justify wasting(yes , it's complete and utter throwing away of your money) any money on consoles, for reason of 2 other points that you mentioned there and several others. Plus i want my child to learn something in addition , which is absolutely impossible on consoles.

I just don't see how can you make new game out of published game (like GWX and others ) with console, since there is no tools for it.It would have to be heavily instanced(lots of zone reloading) , for example, due to console limitations.

I don't have a game console and will never have (I think), so the answer is no.

Speaking as an overgrown kid, I don't see what's wrong with letting kids have some fun. They've got school for learning!

As I said I personally don't like console games, but I'm not against consoles outright, I'm just not interested in getting one for myself... not until the games and game controllers have evolved a bit. When I have kids I'm sure I'll buy them a console, if they want one. PC games may tend to be a bit more challenging, but I wouldn't go so far as to call them "educational".

Just my 2p.

NO !!! ABSOLUTELY NOT !!!
Consoles aren't made for games like this. They will NEVER EVER be a platform for hardcore sims. Consols are made to cater to the "arcade" crowd.
Now if you'll excuse me.. I'm off to play Dangerous Waters.
