That's no problem. I have a widescreen with 1920x1480 and I run SH3 at 1600x1200 fullscreen with no problems. (I probably could run it in 1800x1350, which would also be 4:3, I have to try that).
To do that, you either have to use the graphic card settings to force any application changing resolution to keep the aspect ration (better 3d cards have that). Also the monitor might have a hardware setting for that (via the menu).

Hmm, intresting
Yet, I have not seen a hardware setting like that on a TFT/LCD screen. Excuse me for my ignorance, but what exactly the windowed mode offers then?

Some TFT widescreen panels have the option to force 4:3 ratio.
The windowed mode just offers a 1024x768 resolution version of the game which is displayed in a normal Windows window. I don't like it much, because lines are flickering/vanishing (nav lines on map screen). But I use it during work for my TCx1 patrol ![]()

Thank you for all these!
So I will try to find a 19'' wide screen with such a setting together with rest. My SAPHIRE 4850 and the catalyst don't seem to have such a setting.
