exactly what i was looking for, take a bow!

possibly slightly on topic: one thing i do love about TMO is the detailed map with all the names but i'm too scared to just copy a file from one supermod into the other. any tips? or is it really just one simply file which i could copy without drama?

cheers,
bos

Interesting, I had the same issue of not having a detailed map, with key places like Iwa jima and things missing. I reinstalled from fresh then installed RFB and the maps were back to detailed.

If you know where iwo jima is, go there and check, if its not there then the file is corrupt if it is there then the maps local is okay.

I wouldnt advise replacing "that" files. I think those files are stored as .dds files and then placed on the map. I remember looking over it, thinking of adding more info and found it a little out of my ability and will to do. Other then that most of the map is failsafe. Either you get black squares, or the game will fail to load saying "Cannot find Blah Blah"

Sorry I can't be of more help.

nope thats not the problem, iwo jima is there just fine, but i'm talking about all the annotations on the map, like corregidor I & II, Convoy College etc

just a minor thing of course, but i get radio reports indicating that a taskforce is about to head down the SLOT to guadalcanal and i'd like to be able to find that SLOT on the map.

basically, i suppose RSRD gives me TMO locations which i cant find on the RFB map, but i could be entirely wrong. but i guess RFB means rowing with the same oars which the real skippers had

First off RSRDC for RFB assigns patrol areas regardless of what kind of map you use. Second the new RFB release will be coming out with a new map. Thirdly the TMO map is the one that included "Convoy College", annotations. It was the developers choice and on what to add to his mod.

Since I am a bit geographically challenged when it comes to the Pacific Rim I just Pause and Alt-Tab out to the internet for a quick look up of the area I am being asked to go and patrol it works everytime no problem. I think the map part of SH4 is very moddable so you can pick and choose. My opinion I could be wrong.

Okay, sorry I misunderstood. I myself am not sure what controls those locals on the map, I'll look into it, as I kind of liked em myself. Right now the best info I can provide is that the "slot" is the streach of water between Guadalcanal and Savo Island.

I used to do like Wilcke and Alt+Tab out, but everytime I do that I lose control of my silent running and CO2 so I keep a HUGE map over the PC :p
