![]() ![]() (before I go on, bear in mind that I know absolutely nothing about modding other than 2D art, so please forgive any ignorance and glaring naivete) After reading up recently about some of the later RN escorts of the Battle of the Atlantic - the Loch and Castle classes for instance - I began wondering whether it would be possible to modify the SH3 Hedgehog to produce a working facsimile of the late-war Squid mortar - specifically, if you could reduce the number of projectiles to three while massively increasing their explosive power, and set them to explode via proximity or timer or through whatever mechanism the in-game depth charges use. Possible? It'd also be necessary to rework the 3D model to accurately depict Squid: ![]() double Squid mount on the quarterdeck of unidentified ship - the one on the left is in the "load" position and appears to have some practice bombs/Quint's barrels sticking out of it Is this wildly beyond the realms of possibility and only feasible with an SDK? It just feels like we're missing the coolest, and most potent, ASW weapon of the war. I can't be the only one who'd love to play against a fully bombed-up frigate. Hate to post a Wikipedia link, but it's a decent enough article and thankfully doesn't seem to have any of Navweaps' sulking disdain for British equipment: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squid_(weapon) Last edited by Cohaagen; 07-14-08 at 07:46 PM. |

In spite of Wiki's bad reputation, some of their articles are the best information you can find.
One problem though: your link took me to one of those lovely messages: Quote:

Agh, sorted it. The markup system doesn't like parentheses for some reason.

Alright! Good article. I have no clue if something like that could be done, but then I'm no modder either.
