by themselves the dutch probably no considering they were overun
by germany at home. the japanese war was not totally inevitable and is often historically attributed directly to the limited six month strategic supply of oil available to Japan. The Phillipines given US. resources and backing probably couldve put up a more creditable defence. so to couldve the British in singapore even with what they did have. the ABDA Naval Forces couldve performed much better with the benefit of sometime to excersize but their uncoordination wasnt that abnormal early in the war. indeed not until after the lessons of Savo island seven months later did it have an effect on the readiness in general of the allied forces. Just my opinion. M |
