Default Nvidia Drivers Fix 1.5 for 8 Series Cards

Hiya's,

New Drivers from Nvidia http://files.filefront.com/WinVista6.../fileinfo.html Vista x64 ONLY

New Drivers from Nvidia http://files.filefront.com/WinVista3.../fileinfo.html Vista x86 ONLY

New Drivers from Nvidia http://files.filefront.com/WinXP3217.../fileinfo.html XP x86 ONLY

New Drivers from Nvidia http://files.filefront.com/WinXP6417.../fileinfo.html XP x64 ONLY

These are the leaked ones, I am running them in Vista Ultimate x64

They have cured my nvlddmkm.sys problems and also my black-screen-lockups in vista ultimate x64 using sh4 1.5

1st you need to get and install "Drive Sweeper" get it at guru3d.com, As this is the only cleaner i have tested things on

In my vista setup i do Not have UAC enabled, If you have you can either disable it or try with it on (your choice)

Method, Install Drive Sweeper/Save the driver to desktop and then extract to desktop

1: From vista control panel, programmes and features, Remove the vidcard drivers there,

2: Reboot into Safe Mode (keep tapping F8 as pc reboots and choose Safe)

3: Use Drivesweeper and remove the card drivers, CLOSE Drivesweeper and do the removal again !!

5: Find where the previous driver root folder was EG: C:\NVIDIA (find the nvidia folder) now delete this folder

5: Restart PC and it will bootup normal, If you're asked to install anything just click No etc

6: Now in to desktop, In the driver folder you opened sometime ago Start the install by using the normal Setup.exe

Do Not worry about the Asus Bitmap image (they leaked the drivers you see lol)

7: Follow any prompts to reboot etc

If you have problems post back

I stress use Drivesweeper as it's the only tool i've checked that fully does what i need it to do

So copy n save this info to notepad etc so you can use it as you need

Have Fun

Ciao

If some people don't want to do the above

If you post back i'll upload the specific OS driver

But i've tried to explain easily and it's not hard to do (Trust Me lol)

These look and work solid so far in my Vista x64 setup

Bit of info

They were for the new very soon to released nvidia cards

With the modded .infs they support all the 4 major MS OS's

Hope that Helps

Ciao

I don't say this often when it comes to computer stuff, but I don't get it:

(first tried installing directly from extracted "A" archive, without copy/paste steps)

1: Unrar/zip/7 "B" and find your OS .INF and copy it;
-- right click on archive > "extract here" > creates folder "B" > copied C:\...\B\XP 32\nv4_disp.inf

2: Now unrar/zip/7 "A" (this is XP x86 so if you want XP driver just use this);
-- right click on archive > "extract here" > creates folder "XP"

3: With your copied .INF for your OS go into "B" (don't you mean "A"/"XP", "B" is where I copied the .INF in the first place) and paste the copied .INF for your OS; -- C:\...\XP\ > right click, "paste" > "overwrite?", "yes" (files appear identical)

4: Either save the folder and call it what you like or rar it etc;
-- Moved the folder to C:\ (root) and renamed "NVIDIA" (like official installer)

5: So now you have a driver that will work in your OS
--

6: If not already got DL Drivesweeper n install it
-- got CCleaner, always worked, never any issues

7: Remove installed drivers on pc using windows/vista control panel etc
-- done

8: Reboot in safe mode (hit F8 like a banshee as you reboot pc)
-- done

9: When on desktop run Drivesweeper at least twice a 3rd time won't hurt
-- ran CCleaner, cleaned files + registry

10: Empty recycle bin if needed
-- done

11: Reboot as normal
-- done

12: Install your prepared drivers
-- Ran setup.exe from C:\NVIDIA. First I get an Asus splash, which worried me since I don't have anything Asus. Installer loaded as normal, clicked "next" and installer finished in under 1 second, claiming install succesfull and asks for reboot.

Did reboot; PC acts as if no display driver (sluggish scroll, limited choice of resolutions) and in device manager "display adapters" shows "video controller (vga compatible)" with yellow exclamation mark over icon

13: Enjoy SH 1.5
-- :rotfl:

To clarify

You did use drivesweeper at least twice (in x64 sometimes it catches stuff on 2nd pass)

Which OS are you running ??

Gonna swap over drivers now (if it's what i think it could be it's no biggy just a bit of searching and deleting)

Ciao

I'm not too worried about the Asus screen, I know it's just a bitmap it loads as a splash, just startled me for a sec.

I'm using CCleaner instead of Driversweeper, been using it for a long time on several systems, never had any driver related issues whatsoever;

I cleaned files + registry 2x right after uninstalling everything Nvidia related, and again 2x after booting into "safe mode". Running XP 32-bit.

Seems like it's not actually installing anything. Switched back to 175.16 without problems, installer took a bit longer to install (5-6sec. instead of just 1sec.).

OK I think I have them installed, beginning testing.

Just wanted to pass along a hardy thank you to NVIDIA for screwing the pooch and making me beta test their sloppy drivers for them. Friggin tools!

Oh and one more for MS WHQL labs for making sure that my video drivers didn't have any blue screen system crashing bugs.

Bet they made sure the damn check for the testing cleared though. I just hope they never take over UL testing labs, we may end up with an epidemic of deaths from electrical malfunctions.

Ahoy again.

Still a no go on XP 32, for me anyway. Tried installer and manual driver update, which claims incompatibility with XP. Device manager lists unknown device, Rivatuner reports no supported drivers installed. Cleanup after attempted install listed just a single entry in the registry.
