commercialism any more. Certinaly not the birth of Jesus as the vast majority of atheists and even a sizable proportion of Jews, Muslims and buddhists have some form of celebration / gift giving at that time of year. And certainly not commercialism as most people religious or not would say that is not what they value the most about the celebration. It's much more a part of our culture than part of a religion or shopping opportunity.

More part of a culture than part of a religion? Where do you hail from? In my neck of the woods is so much more religion then a culture. The only culture I see is the culture of the credit card at that time of year. It is becoming totally commericalized.
