Leave the datum point at your best speed (preferably by hitting C).

When they're within 1000 metres, order silent running, manually change speed to 1 knot and put rudder hard over either port or starboard using the momentum gained during the crash dive to keep up the dive rate and conduct the turn.

ALWAYS KEEP A WATCHFUL EYE ON YOUR DEPTH AND THAT OF THE SEA FLOOR DURING THE CRASH DIVE.

Ummm, a Bogue with the 5 DDs, that's a hunter-killer group....:hmm:

rather unsurprising that they turn you into an artificial reef right quickly if you take out the Escort Carrier, they're going to be ever so slightly disgruntled

My suggestion would be to steer clear and find a nice passanger liner to sink, or if you feel you must attack, take out at least 2 or 3 DDs in your first salvo and leave the Bogue for later.....

Perhaps the most important piece of advice is that once you've fired your torpedos, start evading. That will give you a 5 minute head start, enough to get down in the cellar

If you wait to dive until they are coming after you, it's already too late.

You can get away with staying near the surface early in the war against a thinly protected convoy, but not against a task force mid-war or later. As soon as your last eel leaves the tube, you turn around and start to go deep. Then, when your sonar guy reports "Torpedo treffer", you can crash dive if you aren't deep enough yet. Until then, no faster than 1/3rd speed.

Ive been trying to crash dive and silent running but it doesnt help very much but i tried to turn back right after i launch the torpedo. It was very helpfull since DD was turning around the pole and trying to get me. By the time i move away from them, they went back to the USA
