Hi, and thank you for the reply. I did as you suggested, but still no joy. I have checked pop-up blockers and they are off. I am really sorry that I can't give you much more info..but when I click download ( whether with the shift or CTRL button on or off ) I just get a page opening up which stays blank. In the address bar this is what appears when I try to download the GWX2.1exe file

Try download them from this location http://gwx.mysite.orange.co.uk/ (just in case my FF account is messed up)
BTW where do you live? If you cannot download the files we might arrange for a DVD to be sent to you

hi OP. heres the configuration of software i use for browsing and download needs.
first of all go here http://www.mozilla-europe.org/en/products/firefox/ and download and install firefox, configuring it to taste. its LOADS better than Internet Explorer. Firefox 3 is available, but its only a beta, so id stick with the link above, which is the latest firefox 2. now open up firefox and connect to the net. go to TOOLS->ADDONS->GET EXTENSIONS (bottom right corner)->DOWNLOAD MANAGEMENT->SEE ALL DOWNLOAD MANAGMENT (MOST POPULAR FIRST) and download and install FlashGot. This software allows u to integrate external download management software directly into firefox. go to http://www.flashget.com/en/download.htm and download and install FlashGet 1.9.6 (version 2 is available, but i think i remember reading somewhere that v2 is not as stable just yet). this is the actual Download Manager. now configure your new software. first you need to go to FlashGot's options, which are found in firefox's tools menu. somewhere in there is the option to choose and set your default DM. obviously, you want to set it to FlashGet. Now open up FlashGet (it can be opened separately of firefox; when u install it u create an icon on ur desktop). somewhere in tools/options is the ability to set it as default download manager. u need to do this here as well cos it then integrates itself into IE, should u ever need to use IE instead of firefox. that, my friend, is it! now when u click on download, FlashGet should take care of it. obviously, use GWX's website as the gateway to the files u need. if u r still having problems with the download, then instead of clicking on the "download" button on the webpage, copy the URL of the webpage where the download button is located and paste it directly into FlashGet's URL bar. that should solve the problem. some people like a "belt n braces" approach, ie. more than one DM. thats the cool thing about FlashGot, u can switch between them at will. Free Download Manager, available at http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/download.htm is a popular one. hope this works for u, good luck! |
