![]() I read somewhere that cpus already can be sold as 20ghz cpu or higher if they wanted too, but drip feeding us every 8 months or so gives them a fatter bank balance. MS can't change for the sake of change they need to keep there millions growing. |

We are not going to see anytime soon 5, 10 or even 20 GHz cpu's in the desktop market. The reason being current leakage, its a technological barrier rather than a marketing one. And its the big reason why Intel scraped the Netburst architecture in favor of the Core microarchitecture.
The way forward is increasing cores instead of crazily increasing frequency. |
