What should we say about a grown woman doing something this stupid? Going in to Turkey dressed as a bride? Alone? Hitchiking? You havent heard how Western women are wiewed there? Im not a heartless person but even if a were her relative or friend, i would be angry at her.

Good god, well that about sums up the attitude of the world today, certainly as regards women. Other than hoping that one day fate reciprocates the circumstances in your own life, there is little more I can think of to say. You really have no sense of shame in actually coming out and saying something like that.

But I am tired of being lectured by people with signatures like yours. In the end you will try to turn and twist everything to your agendas. In case you dont know, hitchhiking women can get raped and killed in any country.

Im havent twisted this to anything, i havent blamed Islam for this.
Though it affects the local cultures wiew on women, that is a fact.
She traveled through Europes poorest nations in the Balkans but it was in Turkey she got raped and killed, that is a fact.

Im also tired to the crying of different type of naive idealists and/or socialists that cant take it that the world isnt as they would want it to be.

And let me say that imo this kind of sexual killing is much more uncommon in the middle east than in a western country. It is too much against islam / the culture. If she has done sth that is against islam, its of course a different story.

Maybe I am naive. But if she hard toured a western country, lets say Australia, the same could have happened to her, maybe even quicker.

Maybe she was just unlucky to meet this psycho:

He confessed that he accepted Bacca to his truck in a gas station and when Bacca refused to have sex with him, he took her to the woods, raped her and then strangled her with his bare hands.

Of course it's much less common in the middle east, women aren't allowed out in that part of the world.
It is entirley part of the islamic culture to rape and murder a woman out without her owner, you only need to watch crimewatch to see that.
This 'artist' should have seen that, she wandered alone in an islamic country accepting lifts off strangers. I'm amazaed she got as far as she did.
And what has she proved? That you can trust people until you get into a muslim country? I think so.

One more time - I am sorry this happened. I feel badly for her and for her kin and friends. One more time - the crime was not hers.

Having said that, if I climb into the lion cage, my survivors will have to accept that I made a very, very foolish decision. Come to think of it, did this not recently happen in the USA - some nutbar dying after trying to pet a tiger?

Idealism is wondferful, but it is not much protection when the cards get played. I would not allow my own daughter to hitch-hike in a pretty tame city in a pretty tame country. I felt it was - sadly - just not safe enough. (It should not be that way and I work to change it, but while reality may bite, it's still reality and we ignore it at our peril.) For a young woman to launch on a journey like that was an incredibly stupid thing to do. While what happened to her was not her fault, she has to share the blame for what happened to her, just as I would if I deliberately wandered into the kitty kage at the zoo.

I do however take exception to trying to link this to Islam. The view of women is a cultural thing. She would have been in as much danger in some parts of, oh, South America where the machismo attitude is very strong.
