Default MP interference...

Now they're talking of scrapping the two carriers being planned. Great, so we have, and will continue to have no airborne fleet defense. The RN has been neglected for decades, and as soon as they seem to finally be getting some new ships some stuck up MP prat goes and suggests that we cancel them?!

Army commanders are saying that the RAF/RN get too much funding. Have they already forgotten that the RAF provides the air lift support for the troops? What about the recon work done by the Nimrod? I'm sure they'd be the first to complain if these we cut short.

Seem to be going around in circles, it would seem the commons have forgotten that the military actually needs funding now and then! Perhaps its time to increase the defense budget to more than a pathetic 3% of the UK's GDP!

Scrapping? Really? That's incredibly stupid. The Invincible-class were ASW carriers for the GIUk gap, and that's not a problem anymore. What the UK needs ios power projection, and that's what the new carriers give. Silly MP's, I doubt they'll manage to cancel it.

Got a link?

I'm looking, and can't see anything.

On the wiki - the crew will be 600 men for a 75,000 ton ship! Wow!

Tchocky, its on the front page:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main...arriers127.xml

The British Government never ceases to amaze me when it comes to defense. Just before Iraq they were saying that everything was fine, and then come a few months later... Troops don't have desert DPM's or enough equipment. When my dad was out there he had to borrow someone else's flak jacket and rifle! He personally had a pistol with 6 rounds of ammunition! Not even a full mag! Yet the Government said that they were "unaware of problems" *sigh* complete bunch of fools.

Perhaps someone can enlighten me why GR variant Harriers are stationed on RN "carriers" now, since when were ground attack aircraft effective fighters, they can't even carry slammers for pity sake!

Makes you wish Guy Forkes had managed to blow up Parliament, would have gotten rid of the useless idiots before they started to interfere and screw everything up!

I know a lady who's son is presently serving in Afghanistan. She had to send him out a decent pair of boots
