Yep a sound mod is really necessary, but what would be superb is that these guys don't all sound like they 're coming right out of some kind of text book, but really sound like live characters, with more natural speech.

I would be glad to volunteer with my German.

Is there a way in SH 3 to make them say

Neuer kurs dreiundzwanzig (23) instead of
Neuer kurs drei-zwei, which in my opinion sounds like the nav officer can't even speak properly.

and make him say like, 'Ruder Mittshiffs' instead of 'Ruder Nul Grad'

or is this hardcoded ingame?

Not throwing bricks here, just my two cents.

Not a bad idea to re-record all of the text... I'd volunteer too. But ideally we'd need 9 people in total to redo all of the 9 voice sets.

Not sure if the 2-3 can be changed to 23 and so on. the separate digits are recorded and then put together to form all the number readings. Somehow someone would have to change the way the game does numbers... and then we'd have to record an audio file for every number to I don't know what... even ranges and stuff maybe.

The Ruder null Grad confirmation works like this too... theres a file that just says Ruder, then the "Null" file plays, followed by another separate recording of "Grad".

There is room to make things sound more natural though, but it's limited by things like this.

Actually, you can. But you would have to record yourself saying from zero to 360, at least. And you'd have to change the way the game works, which Im not 100% positive it can be done. Probably is hard coded. Much of the commands have no sound, have no link to link some sound to it. I have so many sounds here and no way to link them to the game, Im depressed. But still, each of the 9 folders in speech folder holds 1.101 wav files. Each. Thats already a start.

@OLC, can you help me finding that "hissing" sound so I can replace it? I'll keep trying myself here, but still, Im not sure what your talking about. Any help is apreciated!

that hissing sound... wasnt that STOCK?

imagine yourself in a gas bottle, underpressure(vakum)
that sound was like... you sit inside that botte, and one guy on the outside opens the valve... Tssshhhhffffooouuuuuu..... air is streaming in.

that is a sound i remember hearing each time i was "beamed" into the submarine, at the beginning of a mission.

loved it... went away with GWX i *think*.

Another negative about using your deck gun is that you are definately DETECTED, which has long term effects on your relationship with aircraft. -snestorm

i can record you the sound of my boot kicking your butt, all right!
:rotfl:

for that blow ballast thing, just close your mouth, pump your cheecks with air, and open your lips a little... gives a BRRFfffffff kinda sound.

and then clean your monitor.

The drunk fight is fine as a main topic in this thread.

But you guys mind to keep talking about the issues Im facing here, as a secondary topic? I dont want to disturb your chatting, so if you guys could speak about the sound issues on chatting intervals... i would be pleased :rotfl:

Does anybody have some word to me on that "hissing" sound? Or any idea on which sound I could replace that sound I've posted above? I could even mix two sounds together so we dont lose one to get another. Any ideas? ANY?

Hi,

Ohh yes, and i would like to have the same for the depth.
If you wish you can try to write a new cfg for the LI and record 3240 new soundfiles. That means 360 sounds for the nine voices and include it all into the game.
Its a lifetime project.:rotfl:
And this is only for the course. Finally you can do the same for the radio operator, the watchcrew.
At this time there is no chance that someone publish a mod to simulate that.
The hatch to the radioroom is open, the periscope in the command room was modded to the right place, flag at the Wintergarten and so on. Never say never.
I think you are the goodfather of all SH3 modders if you make it.
Happy trying
I hope you understand my poor english.

Gruß
